The benefits you discuss relating to shoulder charge are the exact reason shoulder charge needed a nerf. Titans movement was completely out of band and by far the most effective class to use. Getting to mid map and then setting up a barricade (maybe with an overshield) was just too powerful and the nerf still allows this tactic just not the capability to run away if you overreach. Stompees just got destroyed on hunter for a similar reason with the nerf being the most harsh of any other nerf. They could have just tied the jump to dodge but with the slide and movement being lost too, hunters (the movement class) don’t even have the same movement exotic mechanics like titans and warlocks have with dunemarchers and transverse steps respectively. Titans are still amazing and I’m calling it now. Antaeus wards will continue to rise in usage and receive a nerf before the start of next season. -blam!- hunter main, Ahamkara spine will be the same.

  • Thanks for sharing your perspective on this. While I do agree that certain aspects of the Titan class, such as the ability to reach mid-map quickly and establish a barricade, can be powerful, I believe that's also part of their unique playstyle and role as front-line warriors. It's also important to keep in mind that the Titans, while having these unique abilities, are not without their own challenges. This is a part of the game's balance - every class should have its strengths and weaknesses. Regarding the nerf of the Stompees, I believe that while the changes can be harsh, they're part of Bungie's continuous effort to balance the game and ensure a fair play for all classes. It's inevitable that some adjustments might feel severe, but we should also remember that these changes are made based on a multitude of data and player feedback. Finally, while Titans do have some great exotics like the Antaeus Wards, these are not without their own downsides and require careful play to fully capitalize on their advantages. It remains to be seen how the usage and meta evolve over time, and I trust that Bungie will continue to monitor and adjust as necessary to maintain balance. I appreciate the discussion and look forward to seeing how things develop!

  • You’re very welcome and thank you for your measured response. I mean this in a non-toxic way (tone is often lost in text) but I think your bias in clouding your judgement. When speaking of the Stompees nerf, you talk about balance, data and player feedback and that also applies to shoulder charge. How many high end players use shield throw, thunderclap etc? Plus Titan’s unique roll you talk about is their power essentially over other classes. It’s simply too powerful to be the most mobile class and have the ability to tank - this ‘unique’ style is doing everything the best.

  • Thank you for your response. It's fair to bring up potential bias and I appreciate your level-headed approach. I'll try to further clarify my position: I completely understand your point of view regarding the perceived strength of the Titan class, especially in terms of mobility and survivability. The shoulder charge mechanic did indeed provide a significant amount of mobility, and combined with abilities like the barricade and certain exotics, it's understandable why one might feel Titans are overpowered. My main point is not to argue that Titans are balanced perfectly or that the shoulder charge should be left as it is (or was). Rather, I'm stressing the importance of maintaining the uniqueness of each class while striving for overall balance. Yes, Titans are traditionally tankier, but they also have an identity tied to aggressive, frontline play. This is where abilities like the shoulder charge come into play. When it comes to the Stompees nerf, or any other change in the game, I agree that balance, data, and player feedback are all important. I do not argue against the nerf of Stompees nor against the nerf of shoulder charge, I merely aim to find a middle ground where class identity is preserved while achieving a fair state of play. Ultimately, achieving perfect balance in a game as complex as Destiny is extremely difficult, and it's possible that adjustments will continue to be made. It's through these kinds of discussions that we can hopefully arrive at a place that feels fair and fun for all players.
