Upping the price of individual seasons serves no purpose other than to make players who are already “locked in” due to their time and money invested in the game pick the annual pass over buying seasons as they go.
Or keeping up with inflation. Have you bought things recently? The price of things be going up, in many cases faster than the price of this Season pass increase.

Did you know that a terabyte in 2022 weighs the same as a terabyte in 2023? in fact the 1 terabyte of storage cost less today than in 2022. The game is digital there is no physical disks, the content is not optimised nor is it efficient. they are forever trying to fix some things while ignoring others.

This is an asinine argument. It’s not a question of how much literal physical space the game takes up, it’s a question about how the prices involved in producing the game and running the company (rent for office space, replacement equipment for servers and work spaces, comping employee travel expenses) keep rising due to inflation. (΄◉◞౪◟◉`)
Seasons are made months in advance. Season of the deep was made before Lightfall. It's been finished. They don't need to charge more for stuff they've already got sitting around. Inflation has been rising for years. And now they decide to up the price on their seasonal model after their most recent DLC has one of the worst responses in Destiny history? Ignoring that fact, there are record player counts right now, so there is in fact, more money than ever being given to Bungie. So I'm sure they aren't in desperate need of a price increase of 50% on standard content. The inflation argument doesn't work if they aren't providing more content to the game. If they were trying to do more, then production cost would go up, and then the price increases. But thats not what's happening.

Edited by Jaegweir: 5/6/2023 3:38:43 AMHow is that? what is asinine, is thinking just because other things go up in prices digital prices do too, but they do not go up because of costs, it is because of INFLATION, it is because of GREED. nothing more nothing less., when you get older you will understand the difference between Greed and Economics. Servers? you make me laugh now buddy . they got 3.6 billion dollars from sony and did not fix their existing server issues. " Contacting Destiny 2 Servers"

Strange the price of the annual pass didn’t increase as well, then? 🤔

Edited by BraddyBo: 5/6/2023 4:01:06 AMNot really. All the content costs the same whether you buy the bundle or everything individually (for wq and lf). Now with the price increase, buying the deluxe version saves you at least $10 compared to buying everything individually. For every expansion before wq, the deluxe version saved you money but bungie removed this starting with wq (raising the price of the deluxe version).

Literally what I meant. Incentivising annual pass over season to season for guaranteed yearly subs over season to season payments

From the TWAB:
Pricing will remain unchanged for the Lightfall standard edition (which includes access to the current live Season at the time of purchase) and Lightfall + Annual Pass edition (which includes access to Seasons 20-23).
The Price of the Lightfall Annual Pass isn’t changing, they haven’t stated that the price of the Final Shape Annual Pass won’t see an increase.
