Unfortunately unable to suspend my sense of disbelief to really care.
No enemy up to this point has ever taken prisoners, wtf have they started now? And from the supposed mindless dredge clones no less.
Nevermind it’s just “random explosion for no explained reason”
Tired of whoever writes these days breaking established lore for convenience and just putting out plain bad writing.

Honestly it kind of feels like they borrowed from Mass Effect 3 where the Reaper forces took prisoners. I swear if Bungie comes out with some nonsense about the human prisoners being needed to build a pyramid...lol
Tired of whoever writes these days breaking established lore for convenience and just putting out plain bad writing.
It’s not bad writing. Noooo nonono, it’s worse than bad writing. It’s a shameless cliché. Hot wiring alien technology like an ‘87 Buick Skylark and an explosion from… what actually did explode? Who green lights this -blam!-? Tell ya what. Hire me. Pay half of what you pay them. I’ll throw on a pot of coffee and have a roller coaster ride ready for ya by morning.

I WANNA HOT WIRE A PYRAMID WHERE

There's no lore, yet, about why the Shadow Legion is taking prisoners. If I had to guess, it's either to divert attention away from The Witnesses plans, as we've seen with the Taken trying to destroy the blueprints to the Black Heart, and as Devrim suggested week 2 or 3. Hopefully next week or shortly after we'll learn that reason. After all the flak Bungie's gotten due to how bad the Lightfail story was, I'm sure they'll want to retain whatever goodwill is left over to appease their new Sony overlords. As for random explosion, there are instances where a trap is set. The most obvious one is the flare Ghost triggers during old Arms Dealer (No about new one, haven't played it yet). Remember, this is the fourth week or rescues at minimum, no telling how many weeks or rescues have been done in game. The Shadow Legion anticipated the rescue, and set a trap that was meant to kill us, but Amanda was killed instead because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Also, there's writing to suggest her death going back Season 15 with the Fractethyst lore entry. "Mithrax's laughter was a deep rumble. "Yes, the empty shells are quite beautiful. Would you introduce me to your Ghost, Amanda? I would enjoy meeting them." "Ooh, sorry," Amanda chuckled. She put two fingers to her wrist. "Still got a pulse. No Ghost for me.". It's not as obvious as Spoiler Alert's "Someone is going to die." tagline, but the writing is there. Bungie was toying with the idea that Amanda would die and potentially be risen as a Guardian at some point. But yes, I do agree that breaking lore for convenience is tiring, especially when nothing is explained. Like why did Rohan NEED to die? To this day, we don't know what he did, nor why he was able to affect a paracausal object when thus far only other paracausal forces can interact with them in ways like destruction.

Use your head. They were setting traps and diverting our attention away from whatever the Witness is doing.

At least eremis was right she did warn guardians but they didn’t listen and looked what happened Amanda died .

Is there any lore to Explain why the shadow legion are taking prisoners? My guess so far is that they’re taking people to be converted into tormentors.

Dna splicing? Nezzy looks like a chimera

Tormentors are alien

Lore-wise, hive took some guardians prisioners to steal their light, and some fallen crews did the same. In this case, mithrax's old crew. In game, though? The you have a point.

These arn’t guardians, they’re civilians, Whom we many many a lore page about being butchered, from red war to the dark ages

I mean, still prisioners.
