If your name was auto-Guardian'd due to the filter upon initial log-in and your name has never been manually changed, you should have another name change. Please keep in mind that if your name was auto-Guardian'd, then your platform name is not acceptable to be used and you'll need to pick something else. This is also the case even if the name is suggested as a possible name; the name suggestion system just suggests your platform names, even if they're not acceptable to be used.

  • Well I guess Bungie is just being dumb for whatever reason. My name on xbox is "Rangimanuka". I'm not sure how this could ever be considered inappropriate and I've never had problems as such when making an account for anything else. I also can't seem to change my Bungie name to it, having never changed it before. I suspect their name filters have falsely written off my profile's name. Do you know how I can directly get in contact with Bungie about this issue? Do they provide that sort of assistance?

    Hi Im Swat
    Hi Im Swat

Bungie fan. Been here for 16years! - old

There is no appeal to forced username changes. It's very likely your name violated rule 4 of the code of conduct. I've copied and pasted this for you below.
Code of conduct: [..] 4. Violations of privacy or sharing personal information (Bungie employees will never ask for your personal information in a forum post or direct message). A VIOLATION OF PRIVACY occurs when a user exposes personal information about another user without their consent. This does not include anything publicly available in their profile, such as gamer IDs, game stats, or joined clans. While a user may have shared personal information previously, it's not permitted to share it again without explicit permission. We believe PERSONAL INFORMATION should never be shared because it can put an account at risk. For this reason, Bungie employees or Ninja forums moderators will remove any personal information they find. https://help.bungie.net/hc/en-us/articles/360049202731-Explanations-of-the-Code-of-Conduct

Banned Name Policies Any Bungie Name that violates these policies or our Code of Conduct will be changed to "Guardian[Random Number]" and players may face an in-game ban. Changes performed by Bungie may consume a player's unused name change. Policies include, but aren't limited to: [..] Personal identifying information (i.e. first and last names, email addresses, phone numbers, etc.) https://help.bungie.net/hc/en-us/articles/7648312251284-Bungie-Name-Guide
• Nope. You'll have to pick something else. If you have name change at all.
