• It would be bad form of me to not include something notable from Avalanche... Uhhhhhhhh... Toy Story 3? No... Chicken Little? Nah, not that either... Oh oh, I know! Tak and the Power of Juju? People liked that one, right?

  • Toy Story 3 is a decent game bruh. Won’t have a bad word said about it.

  • Actually two reasons. The first reason is the one you know and well... The second reason is they don't want to know that the studio has an unproven track record. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but the objective quality of HL doesn't match up with their previous works... Something MAY be going on there.

Is HL objectively better or worse than their previous works in your opinion? going by what I described, not sure if you've played.

  • Haven't played it, and don't plan to. Not a fan of Potter nor the genre so it's a double miss for me. That's kind of tough to answer, I can only go based on what I've heard, and experienced second hand. When I observe the game, it looks like a bog standard open world action RPG, with the standard meh feelings that brings up. But it looks like "a game" not a soulless cash grab churned out in a rush to occupy small children for an afternoon when mommy and daddy had a hard day at work. It looks like a game that, while not anything really special, is made to satisfy, and not just sell a product. It broke viewing records on Twitch, now this could be argued that there are other factors that go into this, but a -blam!- game does not become the highest viewed game on a streaming platform. People want to play this. People want to watch this. Game review shows and gaming journalists are shams nowadays, but I fully expect this game to be in the running for GOTY. Brought to you by the people who made *checks scribbled notes on hand* 25 to LIfe

  • I get what you're saying. WB could also forseeably churn these out like cheap candy. Daddy WB likes cheap candy.

Disney closed Avalanche back in 2016. Warner Bros. purchased and reopened the studio in 2017. The only confirmed member of the old studio returning was "former Disney Infinity GM and studio founder John Blackburn". If we go to John's LinkedIn page, we can see he's listed working as a Studio GM for Disney Interactive Studios until Jun 2016, while starting as Studio GM at WB Games in Jul 2016. Looking at the page for Avalanche it lists 130 employees on LinkedIn. Sure maybe not every employee is on LinkedIn, but that's a few short of the ~300 the studio had when Disney closed it's doors. This begs the question, is Avalanche even Avalanche? Ship of Theseus?
Heads up this is mostly me just being dumb. But it makes me question things.
• That is interesting. I wonder how many times THAT has happened, and nobody noticed.
