I don’t know if I missed something, but this sounds very bland and generic. Like, nothing here stood out as unique or interesting—just kinda sounds like every bland open world RPG ever, but this time it’s Harry Potter. >.> Though, it did sound like they took the Arkham combat and made it a bit more involved by forcing a dodge instead of a counter every now and then, which sounds okay-ish.

  • The last Harry Potter game that came close to this kind of thing was the Half-Blood Prince game, which came out in 2009. So as much as it is pretty much the same as other games that exist nowadays but with a HP skin slapped on, that HP skin is all some people will need to enjoy it. A Harry Potter fan isn’t necessarily comparing it to the newest Assassin’s Creed or Zelda, they’re more than likely comparing it to the other HP games, most of which are 15+ years old now and steeped in nostalgia but comparatively janky af. So a pretty castle on a hill, spells, puzzles and reams of lore are just going to land slightly differently. Just like how people foamed at the mouth over Jedi: Fallen Order, despite it being a mediocre/good game at best.

  • I dunno, I guess I’ve never been into a franchise enough to understand that mindset. Like, even with my favorite franchises, I feel I’m pretty good at judging things a bit more objectively.

But Harry Potter <.< "It's the Game Harry Potter fans have been waiting for" The average Harry Potter fan is not necessarily a Gamer. Who do you think this game is really marketed to?
non-gamer Potter Heads
• I mean, fair, I suppose. I guess that is what I was expecting. I dunno, though, whenever I see boatloads of hype surrounding a game like this, though, I hold out hope that something about it will wow me. Which of course basically never happens. It almost feels like the amount of hype a game gets directly correlates with how generic it is sometimes. >.> I think I’ll just stick with Metroid Prime.

  • I would certainly wait for the game to go on sale, anyone who loves Harry Potter will still be swept away by the environments and cinematic beauty of everything having to do with the game, despite its generic nature.

  • I dunno, pretty visuals should be the icing on the cake, not the main selling point. A game would have to be pretty cheap for me to buy it primarily for its visuals. >.>

Well the brighter news is the game was already dropping in price before it released. Could be pretty cheap before long.

  • Wait, really? I thought I heard it was getting great reviews, though. >.>

  • I guess it'll ultimately depend on the long term sales; because of the name it'll do great, so you might be waiting a while; but being optimistic is good.
