Distorting the stats via mercy farming has a much higher chance of forcing bungie to make improvements than simply not playing.

This, I made a 6 stack Sunday an ppl weren't capping points, I talking to one of the dudes an hey said they mercy farm much faster, my reaction was man if I was bungie id look at those stats an be like wtf, that ppl felt it was much better to just mercy farm then actually play the game mode, if this doesn't scream your idea was $H1T idk how else you could convey it to them at this point.
