Before they switched to using Steam's UDP relay, I was able to reverse-lookup people connecting to me from my enterprise firewall. I live on the Eastern US, but over 80% of the players I was matched against in crucible was in the UK/Ireland or Asian countries. I rarely ever was matched with people close to me.

Because they don't even have regional matchmaking and ping limit like any responsible online game has for the most basic feature
