I'm nostalgic for the old Destiny as well, especially the ethereal quality of narration, music, and story, but now our dev overlords seem more interested in selling t-shirts and woke political agendas. I'm nostalgic for those overnighters waiting for Xur to bank our strange coin for 3 of coin ... when we could solo strikes and heroic strikes and nightfalls where drops were worthy of the challenge... Before power creep turned many into power creeps and players actively sought out others to sherpa .. But alas, corporate lives matter more ...

Now it's all about seasonal power cap hamster wheels and -blam!- measuring contests with adolescents ... not exactly a motivator, I play less hours now in a week than I use to in a day

  • I feel like the adolescents having -blam!- measuring contests wasn't really avoidable but the game design definitely was

  • I know what you mean, and I definitely did see a surge of people behaving that way during season of opulence. At the same time a lot of people that were really young played Destiny 1 and just grew up. So game design probably had a hand to play in this but adolescents being adolescents was kinda unavoidable. My guess is that when people started leaving in season of the drifter we saw and had to interact more with the adolescents in the community.
