Bungie, could the Traveler please do something besides scolding Rhulk?

I think the most exciting thing the Traveler has done was scold Rhulk through a ghost. There has to be more to the Traveler then being just a set piece at the Tower. It's archenemy is closing in...does the Traveler have a battle plan? It obviously can speak through ghosts...so why doesn't it more often? At the very least why hasn't the Speaker's Mask been repaired and utilized by someone. I'm sure Ikora could pull it off. I hear Zavala going on about the Traveler constantly but it doesn't seem to be a participant in the story. Come on Bungie, can the Traveler do something that proves that it's in this fight with us? Something unmistakable.

  • The Traveler is essentially a moon sized mcguffin that can be used as deus ex machina or general plot device when needed. There is more to our magical moon golf ball in the lore but I feel very little of that lore translates into the game itself. Bungie probably has more planned out for the Traveler in the coming expansions where it will finally be fleshed out, but for now Traveler is essentially apart of the game skybox and little else.

  • The Traveler appears to mainly act to deny the unworthy the Light, or at least those that don't fit the criteria outlined in the Red War and reiterated by Savathun and Eido. Even when it was trapped, it did not act until Ghaul actively took the Light with no sacrifice. As long as it's safety is ensured, it won't act. Rhulk tried to tap into the Light with the intention of turning it against the Traveler/Guardians, and was denied. Savathun displayed bravery in opposing the Witness *with Rhulk situated in her own Throne World*, and sacrificed herself in exorcising her Worm to deny the Witness' Sword Logic. Traveler did nothing when Savathun tried to move it, because although Guardians may have been crippled, the Traveler itself would remain safe. Moving forwards, I imagine the Traveler will continue to actively deny the unworthy and uplift those that fit the criteria to ensure its safety. If Calus attacks in Lightfall, or Nezarec returns and decides to surplant both it and the Witness, the Traveler will act.

  •
I am the last Speaker, and I dream that the Traveler will leave us. It shouldn't be a surprise. This truth has been passed down from Speaker to Speaker for generations: the Traveler is good, the Traveler is sentient, the Traveler will save us, and the Traveler will leave us.
Lore tab about the traveler from the Speaker before his death. The Traveler is good, but it will leave us

    • The Traveler not speaking directly to us is the point, which highlights the philosophy of the Light and Dark. The Witness is constantly whispering in our ear, tempting us with power and that it is our Salvation. The Traveler empowers us and gives us the freedom to act on our own free will, giving all those blessed with the Light a second chance. One is a manipulator that would discard us the moment another race proved themselves our betters. One is a silent watcher seeking to prove the point that slaughter is not the only way that beings claim a right to exist.

Lol that would require them to write more than 6 dialogue lines that aren't complete throw aways they save that for $40 dlc's. They come with 7.

      • All things being said I think what we really need to see is a change in the Traveler's attitude. A change in it's desire to flee. The Traveler has to stop being prey and the Witness has to stop being the hunter. If the Traveler doesn't decide to personally take a warlike stance at this point the Witness will win eventually, it's inevitable. Unless the Traveler really starts showing it's awesome power and striking some fear into the Witness. Guardians are a stopgap measures but in the end the Traveler itself has to take the offensive just as the Witness has been doing for eons. It has to stop acting scared and start getting pissed. If it has to embrace some form of the Sword Logic to win so it can carry on terra-forming and uplifting civilizations without the threat of the Witness destroying everything it accomplished...then so be it. Screw the Flower Game. What the Traveler was doing was a good thing. It would uplift a planet and then move on. It's the Witness who is the wrench in the gears who wants to make everything like Warhammer 40k. All I'm saying is if a rabbit keeps breaking into a garden and devouring everything the Gardener needs to take action and kill the rabbit or there isn't going to be anything to harvest.

      • Aside from giving Guardians the Light and allowing us to be resurrected ad infinitum by Ghosts?… It incinerated Ghaul as he was ascending to become a being of pure Light at the end of the Red War campaign and unleashed a pulse of energy to halt the advance of the Pyramid Ships to cap off Season of Arrivals. right, but aside from space magic and functional immortality and killing ghaul and stopping the pyramids from engulfing the entire system and the aqueducts… what has the traveler ever done for us? nothing. / (΄◉◞౪◟◉`)

            • The Traveler could not care less for us. It will leave us as soon as the Pyramids show up again for the Second Collapse. Rasputin had to shoot it down just so that it wouldn’t leave us the first time. So no, no it can’t. It acts when it wants to according to its own will and desire. Not for us. The Traveler does not care for us. At all. And the sooner you learn that, the better you’ll turn out to be

              • That's were it stands False. The Traveler doesn't care about us, not will it fight for us. Look for the signs. When Ghaul took the Light, was it to protect us, or was it because Ghaul broke the Traveler's Law? When the Traveler was Healing, and it pushed back the Darkness in arrivals, was it to protect us, or was it an Escalation of War? The Traveler doesn't care about us, nor will it fight with us. It left us in WQ as Savathun gave it a way out of SOL, we stopped it, which forced the Traveler back to us. The only way we survive, is by killing both the Witness and the Traveler, so we become the Final Shape.

                  • The fact that there are debates means Bungie has to flesh out the Traveler more than it has. There's just more questions than definitive answers. What do we know about the Traveler really...next to nothing in the grand scheme of things and I want to know more. Personally, I think there should be a new Speaker and a new, more advanced Speaker's Mask fabricated to help with such exposition. Mithrax, Eido, Saint-14...they could all be candidates. Pick whoever, as long as we start getting some cool story directly from the Traveler rather than the Witness who is a genocidal entity, who has no problem lying and manipulating. I hate that everything the Witness gives us has to be taken with a grain of salt. I need the other end of the spectrum. For example, what's the Traveler's version of the Winnower and the Gardener? There's always two sides to every story...always.

That’s the thing with Faith. Those who have seen God can’t have Faith. To believe. To have Faith is to devote yourself to something unseen. If you knew The Traveler was just some alien that looked like The Krill would you follow them as a God? Or would you kill them and take their power for yourself? This is a question The Traveler asked itself and you have your answer. You are being Tested in The Light. Also never forget that mantra about Bravery and Sacrifice. YOU are The Traveler’s “Plan.” YOU GUARDIANS are it’s Defense. It will sacrifice itself for you, then your guardian will have to sacrifice yourself for all Life. Are you brave enough?
