Man, I wish we could blame Activision. Unfortunately, we found out the hard way that Activision wasn't responsible for the bad choices. No. They were holding Bungie *back* from them. Bungie eventually left them so they could have 'true' creative freedom. Freedom they then used to make some of the worst business decisions I have ever seen in any company ever. I don't want D2 to die, but it's just a matter of time at this point with their predatory business designs, constant pretense at "Oh, we care!" while only fixing issues that benefit players, and so on. As an example, Duality is a dungeon that has been actually entirely unplayable since it launched. Constant glitches, including ones that randomly team-wipe you and force you to restart entire encounters at a time or, worse, glitch the encounter so you have to go back to orbit and reload it to even try again. It has been this way for months and months now. They've only fixed anything in it *once*. That one time? It was because we'd found a way to cheese the end boss, which they then patched in *days*. Which, after 'fixing' an exploit that hurt no one and only let players who knew how to do it get a free win in a way that affected only them, somehow broke the dungeon worse. Like you said, it's an abusive relationship. I'm here because I've been here since Red War. I do the bare minimum to keep up with the story at this point, and sate myself entirely by watching lore videos about it on YouTube in hopes that maybe one day it'll get better. Perhaps Sony will fix Bungle's stupidity in hopes of not watching their investment burn itself asunder. But we'll see. At this point, my optimism has run out. Sorry you had to find out about the game's state this way. It was soul crushing enough watching it happen. I can only imagine how much it must have sucked to reinstall it and find it like this. EDIT: For any of you elitists who start complaining about people being casuals when they point stuff like this out, I don't plan on engaging you in the slightest. I'll just echo what OP said, as I couldn't have said it better myself:
Community - I don't care. If experience has taught me anything it is that those of you who are still around in a game like this typical use this type of economic model as a way of asserting your profound superiority over others. You don't care about the casual, it's about prestige you can gain - you play this game like a vulture, using your wallet to achieve recognition where your skill could not. You pride yourself in purchasing every microtransaction and season pass for mediocre new content. You are part of the problem, and you revel in that fact.
