Not everyone get high enough level to do GMs, hence the complaints.

I'm saying this as a 5x gilded Conqueror, but GMs (even the ones we farm in 10-15 minutes) are inaccessible for most players. They're very free to us, which is why I have at least one masterworked copy of every exotic armor piece in the game, but they're super rare for most.

Maybe but I think it would be great if, like someone below said, there was a bigger stat gain from investing in them. "If the cost is exotic, the benefits and gain should be too."
