Nothing predatory about using glimmer to unlock aspects/ fragments. You get glimmer from simply playing the game and it can be acquired by trading materials you get for playing the game... Hundreds of raid clears without the raid exotic seems to be a bit of an exaggeration IMO. However, the flipside to that is that there are occasions where players get things much earlier, example you getting ToM on the 3rd day the raid was live.

If it takes 120hrs+ to get the glimmer required to actually unlock the subclasses and make them usable, that's poor game design. And that's just for one Guardian. The economy system is designed for us who've been here and basically tells anyone new to -blam!- off because they don't have years of accumulated materials. No wonder the population dwindles out so fast after every attempt Bungie makes to reign new players in they don't feel welcomed by the developer.

  • According to what does it take 120 hours? You dont need to unlock every single aspect or fragment to play the subclass. It's called progression you gradually unlock abilities as you play the character. Glimmer is incredibly easy to get and has multiple ways to get it. At the end of the day getting the subclasses unlocked requires a player to just play the game.

  • If you pay attention it's not actually that common anymore. A strike gives like 1500, PvP game the same, enemys drop 3-4. You need a million glimmer Shows it awful design tho bcoz once you unlock them all, you don't need glimmer for anything else and you're always at 250k

  • Literally I can name and prove a clan member with 170 clears to get vex.

  • You can name one of your clan members that went through that... my point is that the scenario you described is not as common as you tried to make it out to be. On top of that I'm sure that same clan member got drops that were highly sought after much sooner than others.

  • I’m not telling you you don’t know I can understand how it seems exaggerated but in my year and months of playing I’ve read countless posts and seen pics of players raid reports with ridiculous numbers for vex and eyes.

  • In my years of playing Destiny I've seen a lot of those same post. Upon further inspection often times the player exaggerated the clears or left out they ran the raid multiple times after getting their weekly clear items. However, as I said previously can someone have a hard time getting a particular drop sure. At the same time they often times get other drops that people would love to have far easier. The problem is people are quick to focus on when they dont get what they want and ignore the many times they get the drops they covet.
