The case for nerfing divinity.

Going to open with the statement, this is a place for conversation, not for hate. No calling people names. No insulting them. Be respectful. Now onto the actual topic. Does divinity need a nerf? I'm going to come right out of the gate and say yes, it does. Let me give you a few reasons why it does. First, I'm going to list what divinity has going for it. It debuffs targets from any range with no preparation. It has plenty of ammo, especially with aeons/finder perks. It essentially has infinite duration because of plentiful ammo Divinity sets the crit rate to 100% What is the biggest debuff in the game? It is a tie between many things, divinity is among them. Let's list those debuffs: Tractor cannon, divinity, shadow shot, felwinters helm. Why is divinity better than any of these? Let's start of with an easy one, felwinters helm. Felwinters helm is a short duration and requires you to perform a finisher or get a charged melee kill next to a boss. Felwinters helm is harder to activate, does not last as long, and provides the same debuff yield as divinity. Now let's talk about the next one, shadow shot. Shadow shot activates from any range, though a boss that strafes can get out of it or dodge it. Shadowshot almost always ends before damage phase is over, shadowshot takes a super charge. Shadow shot burns a super, doesn't last as long, and is not as easy to use as divinity, yet still provides the same debuff as divinity. Now onto tractor cannon. Tractor cannon requires you to be in close range and uses heavy ammo. Quite good, but it is not as versatile divinity due to taking the less plentiful heavy ammo, requiring close range, and does not make every shot into a critical hit. In short, Divinity is the biggest debuff in the game. Divinity is the most versatile debuff in the game. Divinity is the longest lasting debuff in the game. Divinity is the easiest to use debuff in the game. Divinity provides an additional advantage of making all shots critical hits. There is no scenario where any debuff is nearly as good of a choice as divinity. Divinity has bosses and other perks balanced around its use Because of the ease of use and 100% uptime of divinity, it can be assumed it will always be applied to bosses. This makes bosses are designed with the fact that they will have a 30% debuff applied and all shots will be critical hits in mind, which can bloat their health pools to keep divinity from making the encounter too easy. Divinity guaranteeing critical hits also guarantees that whisper of the worm's white nail perk will always activate. This takes any risk out of using the weapon. If it was a risky choice to use whisper, buffing it to a level where it has high dps could be something bungie is more comfortable with.
