I was with a new player friend and he was talking about having to buy the 3.0’s I was so confused. Bungie it is beyond predatory and f-ed beyond belief to have to pay hundreds of thousands of glimmer for new players to have to buy a la carte every piece to the reworked (not new) light subclasses. The investment team honestly is a constant liability to this game. Grind is not content! But guns and craftable weapons are such OVER-Inflated investment cost that nothing feels like a reward. Same with pinnacles what is so important and or special that players get locked out?! The in game economy is terrible to even have a basic experience gm farming is required so the game for just a basic ease of build crafting and trying new things costs the highest level of investment. Gm’s and raid are considered aspirational but that’s a complete lie if players are set up to fail because the economy is designed for the top not the bottom band of players. Endgame players have no short of mats but new and mid have exponentially less. Last season was the first time I did gm’s regularly it changed the way I played destiny. But Bungie has the new/mid game so material broke that it’s makes it a terrible experience. I’ve never had this many exotics masterworked or had more than enough mats when I started to even enjoy the basic game. I’ve quit for long stretches of time and more than once and I lay that entirely on the investment teams shoulders. And I know a giant part of players that have a bad impression of destiny it’s devs and the community are because it’s so anti new player and has an economy of scarcity which again feels terrible. I can’t think of what point the bottle necking and the CONSTANT OVERUSE OF the worst kind of rng used in this game serves. Last mentionable experience: I got touch of malice day 3 after release after I subbed in for someone in my clan didn’t even complete the whole raid was just trying to save my friends run and you know what. No one has gotten it since and I guarantee no one is going to be grateful to Bungie when they get it. Why because so many people are upset yet again the investment team screws the community by making an exotic that was a quest reward toxic rng reward. There is zero room for gratitude and goodwill towards Bungie when the game decides randomly when you get the reward you’ve been working towards for _____ amount of time. I mention this because it is beyond toxic to see guardians have clears in the hundreds + of specific raids and no raid exotic. Please shake up the investment team fire people if you have to but the game needs to not by it’s mechanics create toxicity and general friction arbitrarily rng does not reward skill and grind is not content. I hope theater anyone from Bungie -blam!- this knows I and many community members wanna just have fun no one really wants to be toxic I think situations do that so please I would like the opportunity to be grateful to you as a dev but I can’t and won’t until inroads are made with general fairness to the economy and design choices. I originally came from a mother game community and that one was very healthy and maintained by attitudes of fairness towards players. Please this isn’t a call for free but a call for more tailor made situations for new and old players and an end to inflation in this game.
I absolutely agree. The main point is new players definitely need glimmer to upgrade core abilities. The entire argument that microtransactions are predatory in gaming is a Pay To Play Mobile Game model. Which is exactly what having high prices glimmer is. New players do not have 25k to drop for a basic ability. This will only force new players to buy those sweet material packs or season pass. Again what makes microtransactions predatory is when they go beyond cosmetics. Microtransactions should be for cosmetics only otherwise IT IS a Pay To Play Mobile Game model. New players can’t play the game unless they spend money on silver coins just to buy Mats. This is literally the definition of predatory microtransactions.

  • My man have you looked at the horrible season pass? Is the Destiny Community this dense? Free Players: A wall of nothing. Pay to Play Players: More mats and items than you actually need. I swear if one more person acts like the season pass doesn’t give you boxes of mats. Ridiculous. You folks would LOVE Halo: Infinite. You would absolutely love the season pass.

  • People buy the season pass because they are addicted. Bungie got them addicted. And since they are addicted they never stop until there’s no more slot machine.

  • This is quite literally the most factually wrong and nonsensical post that I’ve read all week. Considering all of the Divinity drama that’s currently going on that’s saying a lot. You literally earn Glimmer and materials in the game by *GASP* playing the game. Crazy, right? Having to farm Glimmer isn’t hard or difficult, at all, and if anyone believes that it is then Destiny and games like it are one hundred percent not meant for them. Also the original subclasses were much more annoying and time consuming to unlock. Just saying. You sit there and spew all of this nonsense about “pay to play” and “mobile game style microtransactions” when those things don’t even exist in the game. I must have also missed when Bungie started selling material packs as well. Oh that’s right, they didn’t. I honestly don’t need to say this because your comment speaks for itself but you truly and sincerely don’t know what you’re talking about and you clearly have a very loose grasp on this entire game in general.

  • I challenge you to go earn 2 million glimmer, without buying any. It's not as common as it once was. Strikes n PvP give like 1500. You can run a full strike n have maybe 2500 if you're super lucky. It's very time consuming, this to a new player who also has 75 quests, 4 campaigns, nonstop popups, things flashing everywhere, to also worry about. It's overkill, it's very overwhelming

It's overkill, it's very overwhelming
Oh you challenge me lol? If only the opinions and views of a throwaway account that was created this month with zero profiles linked mattered to me. Nevertheless I’ll humour your response… First of all I’ve never had to buy Glimmer. Second of all I can spend it and cap back out extremely easily just by playing the game. It’s not as common as it once was? The acquisition of Glimmer has never once changed or fluctuated so that’s absolutely false. In fact these days there is more than one way to increase Glimmer gains while playing. Nice try though. It’s time consuming? If you’re playing passively as well as working towards other goals then it’s really not. Honestly if that’s too time consuming for people then they probably shouldn’t be bothering with Destiny because Glimmer is literally the easiest thing to obtain in the entire game. The fact is new players aren’t meant to start the game and then immediately be able to unlock every single part of every single subclass. They’re called goals. You start from the bottom and you work your way to the top which is exactly what everyone has had to do. Clearly people have never played MMO’s, looter shooters, or hybrids of the two because this is nothing new. These genres of games take time, effort, and commitment if you want get anywhere substantial within them. If people don’t enjoy grinding, farming, or even the dreaded RNG then again a game like Destiny probably isn’t for them. These are all things that have always and will always be a part of the core gameplay loop and it’s nothing new or specific to Destiny either. People don’t seem to understand what type of game they’re playing or what that entails and it’s posts like this that illustrate that very clearly.

Bounties used to reward glimmer. Event completions and public events, used to give more glimmer. Bounties didn't used to cost glimmer, and repeatables didn't used to be a thing. That's called shrinking an economy. I start new accs almost every month, for many many years, I've noticed the lack of glimmer.

  •
Bounties used to reward glimmer, as did legendary items, neither do now. Event completions and public events, used to give more glimmer. I start new accs almost every month, for many many years, I've noticed the lack of glimmer.
I don’t recall bounties ever giving Glimmer outside of the ones that Spider had on the Tangled Shore. Also bounties have always cost Glimmer to obtain. Oh and dismantling Legendary items does in fact give you Glimmer so I’m not exactly sure what you’re babbling about. We have Rainmaker consumables and Ghost mods that increase Glimmer gains these days so yes while certain aspects of the economy have shifted the acquisition of Glimmer is still just as easy and still just as plentiful as it’s always been. You start new accounts every month and have for many years lol? Funny how that just so happens to lineup with your misguided argument of how you’ve noticed these supposed Glimmer issues. Keep trying, eventually you’ll make a point that sticks, maybe. At the end of the day the only differences that revolve around Glimmer is the fact that Bungie gave it more uses. For years people complained about being at cap and not having anything to spend it on so Bungie changed that. Every single point that I made and that you ignored in my last post still stands. Clearly no matter how many accounts you make you still don’t understand or comprehend the game and your repeated replies not only to me but to everyone else in this thread very clearly illustrate that. ✌🏻

  • My Brother in Christ having Mats as microtransactions is the bad part. Doesn’t matter if we have enough or you can earn them in game. WHY EARN WHEN YOU CAN BUY? That’s predatory part my Comrade. Keep up.

That’s predatory part my Comrade. Keep up.
First of all I am not your brother. Second of all I am definitely not your brother in Christ. Third of all you can’t just buy in game materials. There is literally no micro-transaction option to spend money to buy upgrade materials, planetary materials, Legendary Shards, or Glimmer. People can’t just head over to Tess at Eververse and buy themselves some mats. Sure, you can buy the season pass that contains a whole plethora of different items including materials but literally no one buys the season pass just to get materials and if you think that they do then you’re even more delusional than you’ve already illustrated yourself to be. All you’ve done is spew nonsensical falsities to try and fit your misguided agenda of “mobile game micro-transactions”. Every single time you post on these forums all you do is showcase your immense lack of knowledge regarding this game. Bravo, champ. PSA: This is why you don’t eat glue.

  • The Bungie Employees are going loony on this post. “I love Arc 3.0 it’s a great time for Destiny and a great time to buy the season pass” “What do you mean folks should be able to earn items in game? That’s what the store is for.” “Also nobody is buying stuff at the store.” Eververse go brrrrrrrrrrrr Bungie Executives go on their third self paid vacation. 🌴 😎
Bro damn! Got him!
Yes, got me so good. You both lack intelligence, common sense, and general logic and should probably just quit playing the game considering neither of you have even the slightest understanding of the game that you’re trying (key word trying) to play. 🤡😂🤡
