It’s not predatory because bungie does not financially benefit from you getting glimmer. Bungie gains nothing from this. It creates a experience of growing your light and abilities. Yes, I do think the costs are a bit absurd (specifically for fragments), but you should still have to buy them from ikora.

  • Explain Stasis though? It’s literally behind a paywall. A game where core abilities are behind a pay to win Live Service model. Now sure technically glimmer is not paid for by the consumer. But for new players who definitely need glimmer to even upgrade ANY subclass that is a Pay To Play gimmick. Which is the entire argument against microtransactions in games. They should only be cosmetic. When you force players down a mobile game style microtransactions path where they have to buy material packs just to upgrade abilities THATS PREDATORY. They high glimmer prices definitely fit into that category if you are a new player.

  • I was talking about light abilities. stasis is the only selling point of beyond light, and it should remain that way.

  • And since I’m rambling The Best Campaign for beginners was the original new Light campaign after The Red War. Abilities and unlocking them should be tied to a quest not meditating and paying money to do so. What kinda wack stuff is that? “Pay Ikora 25k to receive our level 5 package of enlightenment” That’s how Cults do things, LOL.

  • That’s BS. Beyond Light main campaign is super tiny. I feel that makes a better “New Light” experience for new players. Nobody has ever wanted to stand in the cosmodrome and kill the spider walker. Nobody.

  • Bungie is a company. Do you know what companies do? They produce a product for the sole purpose of making money. What is bungie’s product? Expansions. They do more than is required, and give us at least something for free. They never had to do that. Their goal isn’t to make a destiny; their goal is to make money through destiny. It is not wrong to go to work to earn money. That’s why you’re going to work. It is not wrong for Bungie to do what they’re doing. They are doing it to make money.

  • As a hardline Communist this comment hurt my brain. “You go to work to make money” “Bungie is a company that makes money” Jesus.
