I’m trans and get the same treatment most of the time as soon as it comes up. I just fly solo or stay muted.

Why would it come up ?
-
Almost like it’s a part of my identity that affects almost every aspect of my life 🙄 Or if someone uses the wrong pronouns and I correct them. Or they see my Xbox pfp and ask who it is and I have to explain that it’s me. Or someone in the party makes a tasteless joke and I tell ‘em it was a bad joke and they wanna know why I care.
-
It’s not even worth the attempt at discussion tbh
-
Correct. The ignorant often prefer to stay ignorant, it’s easier that way.
-
The takes these forums have are actually pretty incredible though. Like in the worst possible way. I’m pretty sure most of these people are stuck in 2012-2016.
-
I wouldn’t even give them that much credit tbh. I’d say more like 2000-2005 if we’re being generous. Some seem stuck in the Jim Crow era, which is remarkable since most of them probably aren’t old enough to vote yet
-
Yeah. I’ve never really understood how this community is the way it is.
-
Many of them are children who think it’s funny being hateful, and for them I feel sorry. I was a child who thought it was funny to be hateful, but luckily I was steered in a better direction as I reached maturity. I sincerely hope these children get that same guidance and direction. The ones I don’t feel sorry for are the adults who CHOOSE to be hateful. Some, like my mother, can be reminded of their human empathy and better themselves, but the ppl on these forums don’t even try. They hide behind a screen and refuse to be better, so I have no sympathy for them.
-
The worst part is I’m pretty sure a lot of the people spewing that garbage on here are definitely grown -blam!- men. Especially with how some of them talk, I’d be shocked if they were just -blam!- kids doing a really convincing roleplay.
-
You wouldn’t of lasted 5 mins in the early days of Xbox live.
-
Do not cite the deep magic to me, boy, I was there when it was written. In all seriousness, I played MW2 on Xbox 360 back in it’s prime. I was there, and I’m still here on Xbox. If current me was there back then, I’d probably just not use a mic, like I don’t really now.
-
I mean, it’s kinda hard for it not to? Say they’re referred to as “he” or “him” or whatever but they correct them because they don’t identify as a male. It’s not exactly an impossible situation dude.
I’m trans and get the same treatment most of the time as soon as it comes up. I just fly solo or stay muted.
Serious question, what does you being trans have to do with being a gamer? Does it stop you from shooting bad guys? Or from getting blues in all endgame activities? As far as I know gender doesn’t effect game pixels, so why should your IRL gender matter in a video game? I for one only care that you can stun champs, and do DPS to the boss while having a few laughs along the way.

For me personally, a lot of the issue with being trans and playing online games comes from when people hear my voice in a voice channel, realize I'm trans, and start harassing me with slurs and death threats. It's not an exclusive problem with the Destiny community, however it's a problem that needs to be addressed so that everyone can enjoy their time playing
-
Yep. Either my gender pops up in convo, or I ask them to use my correct pronouns, or sometimes it’s just them hearing my deeper voice then seeing my very non-a-guy Xbox pfp and putting it together. Next thing I know, I’m booted from the raid team and kicked from the party, if they’re less nasty. The more nasty ones start tearing into me til I leave then harass me with messages til I block them.

Asking someone to use your pro-nouns is one of the most selfish things you ask for. You're not special. You're just another person.
-
What the -blam!- Have you never interacted with another human being before?
-
Of course, but I don't cater to anyone else's beliefs. I live in reality, life ain't fair. 🥲
-
Do you freak out when you have to refer to some guy as he/him? Like does the concept of pronouns terrify you or something lmao You know, one of the fundamental parts of communicating with another person?
-
Of course not because that's reality, I just don't live in a fairy tale land. 🤣
-
You’re a very sad little man.
-
No, unfortunately I'm a living in reality little man. Thank you for the compliment though. 😎
-
Uh huh

Addressing someone how they’d like to be addressed is one of the simplest, most basic levels of respect. If someone called you the wrong name, you’d correct them. And if they kept calling you the wrong name intentionally, they’re an -blam!-. People like you just love telling the world how rotten your souls are.
