No personal disrespect. But you are simply getting a small taste of what average players experienced playing against you for the last 3 years under CBMM. You are having to compete now if you want to win matches, rather than being allowed to dominate weaker players. Many of whom had little if any realistic chance to beat you. The difference though is you have the skill to fight back, and the ability to compete. What I’m hearing is that you don’t find this as enjoyable. …and that’s the root issue here. The conflict between two irreconcilable definitions of fun. Those who enjoy competing against players of similar skill, versus those who enjoy dominating players of lesser skill. One is competitive. The other is predatory. The market is such that one game can no longer serve both. Which is why half of the Crucibles player base melted away over the last three years. I’m always amazed at how so many high skill players expect average players to accept conditions that those same high skill players consider unacceptable for themselves.

 • Nope. The game is already locking the most powerful PvP weapons behind pve content. Anyone that’s a trashcan at PvE is unable to obtain those weapons without facing adversity the same way anyone who has to play up through comp to 5500 would have to face adversity. You people don’t want fairness in the game. You want to continue to be bots, continue to not improve at the game at all, and hide behind the excuse of “we want everyone to play against equal skill players”. Meanwhile, Bot 1 as a 1.2 is digging in Bot 2 as a 0.5, because the skill range at the lower level matchmaking is far wider than the skill range at the upper end.

 • Pve isn’t competitive. So the best players can’t act as gatekeepers defending an equipment advantage with the advantageous equipment. It’s why most loot games don’t have pvp…and those that do? No one takes it seriously as a contest of skill.

 • Oryx is a gatekeeper, he even has a lighthouse-emblem on to track how many people he denies.

 • But it’s a non-competitive one. You just have to beat a challenge of fixed difficulty. Not beat someone who is younger, faster, more experienced AND has an equipment advantage. Is a design paradigm that doesn’t work. It’s why Luna Howl and the other pinnacle HC nearly destroyed the game. It’s why I said Day One that adding them to the game was a huge mistake. Bungie sunset weapons primarily to get those things out of the game.

 •
I think the trashcans simply aren’t able to conceptualize that two trashcans going head to head is not the same as two top players going head to head. Furthermore, the matchmaking is more lenient on the lower end. There are more trashcans, varying from a 0.2 player to a 1.2 player, across the board. These people think they’re playing fair games now, when in reality it’s 1.2’s dogging on the 0.2’s. Essentially, it’s a different tier of “sweats” stomping on lower skilled players. At the higher end, this is much less likely. There’s not a lot of individual skill difference between a 1.8 and a 2.2. What it comes down to is subtle differences in movement, positioning, patience and individual aiming ability. What results is slow paced gameplay where the 1.8 and 2.2 play their lives heavily and bait blueberries against each other. Overall slower paced gameplay where it comes down to luck and who has the better blueberries on their team.
I couldn’t have said this any better than you man.

 • This game’s casual playerbase is something I’ve never seen before on any other game. Every other game in the existence of humanity has people who understand that if you are not good enough at the game to achieve X goal, you have to put in the time to get better. This game, though, has a casual playerbase that demands bungie to “fix” the game to be easier for them to achieve X goal. We saw it with comp. Comp used to be quite difficult to actually hit 5500. Getting NF when it came around was one of the few times I was like “wow that was hard but I’m glad I got this, it was worth it and deserved”. Casuals? They stomped their feet at bungie and demanded the ranking be made easier. Bungie clapped their hands and made it so. But the casuals still couldn’t hang, still whined, and eventually bungie decided that no rewards was a better alternative to making people feel bad that they couldn’t achieve said rewards. We saw it with trials. The flawless pool. The entire point of the pool is to shield bad players from good players entirely. It’s essentially a bot festival. Which bot will come out on top, the last word bot walker or the pulse rifle rat invis in the back? Nobody knows, stay tuned folks. Now we’ve seen it with what should be the most casual playlist in the game, control. Bots shielded from everyone better than themselves, while the 1.2’s go head to head against the 0.2’s in a different kind of “sweats stomping bad players”. They’ve fooled themselves into think they’re playing fair games when in reality, the bottom half of the PvP playerbase is a highly wide range of lesser skill. It didn’t stop with making playlists easier, however. Bungie went a step further and, one year ago, decided that in order to further shield the bad players, they need to directly nerf good players - queue the slide nerfs, the increase of ability spam, and the airborne effectiveness nerf. Can’t hit your shots? No problem, bungie has your back. Slap on a piece of mind, sit behind a titans barricade with overshield or go invis with omnioculus, and spray your enemy down! Can’t aim? No problem. Lorentz driver has your back. This baby will find your enemy’s head for you. Call in now and receive zero flinch!

 • Play games other than shooters. All other competitive pursuits skill stratify. IOW. They don’t think it’s reasonable for a beginner to have to go up against a Grandmaster… …and that Grandmaster doesn’t think that his reward for becoming a Grandmaster is to beat up on beginners at the local middle school.

 •
They will never understand that. Bungie has enabled some of the worst attitudes ever to become the norm
Bungie stopped caring about pvp so long so it’s expected. Probably won’t be resolved until a new game is made & people forget ab d2 pvp completely.
High skill players being forced to play meta loadouts and sweaty gameplay, IS NOT The same as low skill players getting clapped without having any type of skill to do something about it.
No, you're right. It's probably worse since low skill players are forced to play meta loadouts and sweat to even have a fighting chance. Good point.
Bungie needs to make comp more incentivized so sweats have some place to sweat it out, and every other playlist is strictly CBMM for those who don’t have the skill.
How does this help everyone who 'doesn't want to sweat', exactly?

While doing it every season they can add more cosmetics or even a leaderboard, that say this sweat box is rank #1 this season. I’m almost positive the majority of pvp players would just eat it up if it actually had some incentive.

Can they still go into other playlists if they chose to? ... Do you see how that solves nothing yet, or should I keep asking rhetorical questions?

 • When comp had incentive (Not Forgotten, Revoker, Redrix) sweats would reside there. Playing to get those weapons and helping their friends get them. Now there is nothing in comp. So why play it?

 • So, what you're saying is not only that it's a temporary measure which requires constant upkeep and dev time to maintain players' attention long enough to make it worth while, but also that it's been tried and has already been dropped? Why do we think it's a permanent solution?

 • Oh no it requires constant attention like literally everything else in the game 🤦‍♂️ You’ve been told what happened. Casuals cried about not being able to get to fabled 😂 An easy permanent solution is making skill matter by not budging on players who feel entitled to rewards outside their skill level 🤷‍♂️
