It's male as in dude, and anybody can be a dude.
I'm a dude, she's a dude, he's a dude, we're all dudes, hey.
It's like Iron Lord. Ladies can be Lords too.
English

Isn't the female equivalent to lord lady? Like queen is the female equivalent to king and princess to prince etc.

Romance languages don’t work the same as English. Everything is gendered, it’s nuts. Side fact: There’s a movement in France to make gender-neutral terminology, but it’s faced extremely heavy resistance by traditionalists from the start and has made very little progress.

Edited by Veldrin: 8/31/2022 9:49:50 AMThe opposite happens in germany were there's a movement to make everything bigender (one specific female variant and the standard variant as the new specific male variant) For example in the german variant of Bungie's twabs they don't say guardians (neutral), they now say guardian*esses (hüter*inn3n in german) [3 is E because for some weird reason the word gets censored otherwise]. And i think in english they just use one word for every person now, no matter if that person is female, male or whatever. With some exceptions like king/queen, actor/actress etc. i think.

Correct. I think translations are run locally, like they outsource German translation to German companies/community leaders, and I’d assume if that’s the case that Bungie needs to choose new ppl to work with in Germany😬

I don't mind it if it's not ingame, I prefer the english way: one word for everyone without any hint at the gender, but it's not the way some people in germany want and i can tolerate that even if I don't like it.

The Iron Lord title refers to the entire group so it works Titles such as Reaper, Cursebreaker, Reckoner or even Wayfarer are translated for both genders since it refers to the play specifically
