This is going to be a hard pass, whether you like the result or not lol.
Reasons:
1) For PvE: Eververse Store Ornaments - It's basically extra income potential. That isn't going to be removed. Lol
2) PVP - Quick glance at a player will visually tell someone what they use without the need to inspect in detail (no one, realistically, wants to do this every time, if an ornament hides it.)
Let's be real. How do we determine what is being used on another player most times?
Answer: Through visually seeing and looking directly at the armor on the player. That armor stands out because it is Exotic and has their own unique ornament. That's by design, regardless if you agree with the nature of said design or not.
Hiding this with a Legendary ornament will cause advantage/disadvantage to various players.
Legendary/Rare armor ornaments should not, and rightfully so, will not be applied to Exotics.
Wear the Exotic or wear the Legendary. The trade off is power over appearance. Use a shader to blend it in. Can't have both.

What if someone only ever played one class? Why would they even know what the other 2 classes exotics looked like? Lol

Lol
While that scenario is likely, the game itself doesn't prevent the player from figuring out how they (the other class Exotic armor) looks: Character > Collections > Exotic > Armor > [select between Hunter, Titan, or Warlock] > Success. I don't play on my Hunter often if ever and have only 9 exotics unlocked, but I can see the rest faded out, and can check the details of the Exotic. Including the appearance. Now unless the player is willfully ignoring this, or doesn't know where to check this, then sure they won't have a clue, until they do stumble on this lol. But, even then, that specific scenario is due to the player's decision. It becomes a player problem at that point, not a game problem. If the player doesn't like having to do this, then it's on them lol. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Or just check the opposition before the game starts if it really means that much lol. If ya don’t like that suggestion than that’s on you 🤷♂️

Edited by Xero: 8/23/2022 2:52:10 PMOf course. I already said most folks don't realistically want to do that. It doesn't mean "don't ever do that" or "All players should not do that". Context lol. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I once suggested being able to VISUALLY equip 4 Armor exotics ( make all exotics skins become ornaments to wear on Legendary armor ) . Mainly because it would make Peoples armors look sick. I dc about the whole PVP inspection. A Simple fix for those saying they need to see what enemy players are wearing, Make Crucible auto turn off exotic ornaments. Now as for the Exotics them selves, I think we can all agree that Shaders need to be able to rotate the colors and be able to apply Shaders to Weapon Exotics.

Edited by Xero: 8/22/2022 4:02:07 PMI get that, and you know, I feel if shaders had more flexibility in colour combination, and preference. Then posts like the OPs idea would not be as frequent. I see more feedback requests to adjust shaders in some meaningful way over ornament suggestions. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Maybe I’m just trash at pvp and that’s honestly the case but I’ve never once been fighting someone and seen their exotic armor piece and been like oh man I’m screwed. Honestly who cares
-
I care. I want to see what was used against me. There's enough time to Visually see what people wear. Like the OP said, the Exotics stand out more then the Legendary's. Even with their Ornaments. Given why they are Exotics.

Edited by Xero: 8/22/2022 3:56:01 PMWell, you don't have to care. Yet some do. When you see a use of Helm of Saint-14 on a Titan in enough games, or Necrotic Grips on a Warlock, or whatever other Exotic enough times, it either clicks in to remind yourself of it, or it doesn't when you see the player running around. At the end of the day, there are folks who care about this, and it's a pretty decent and reasonable reason. I'm also horrible at PvP lol, so that point is whatever to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I tend to decide how screwed I am based off the weapon I see the enemy guardian using

The other team could be naked and maining feathers and I'd still die. If looks could kill, I'd be dead. 6 people are trying to kill me. Armor, guns, subclasses? Too much to process while running for my life. Plus I'm killing myself, so there's that too.

Edited by Xero: 8/22/2022 3:59:25 PMFair enough. Some folks might say that's half the battle of knowing your opponent, since there are some pieces of Exotic armor that pairs with an Exotic weapon quite well. Synergy, you know? Just depends on what you care about to find out. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
