If you think the issue is the disc, then you can try to buy another D1 disc from somewhere and try it. If your disc drive on your console is messed up, you can find someone to repair it. The only other alternative is to purchase it digitally, and the only way to get it digitally is from the console's platform store, and they set the prices for it.

  • Yeah I figure as much. I'm just perplexed as to why this disc works in another console but not this one, whole other discs do work in this one still, it's a weird situation. Meh, I figure at this point there's no reason to worry further about it when there's very little time to practice D1 raids before Day 1 anyway, and I'm not gonna spend £50 on "The Collection" edition when I already digitally own every expansion & piece of side content that's included in it already, just not the base game itself. I guess I'll see if I can pick up a cheap pre-owned copy the next time I pass by a game store to see if that works, though since this disc looks fine & works in a different console I'd imagine it's a hardware issue with the xbox itself, which is odd because it worked just fine until about a month ago. Maybe it was damaged during a heatwave? I don't know. Anyway, thanks for the tips regardless.

If the disc works in another console but not your own, then your own console definitely has some sort of other issue going on. It's possible that there's some imperfection/dust/microscratch on the disc that happens to line up perfectly and randomly with some imperfection/dust/microscratch on your console's lens, and that random perfect storm of problems happens to be just enough to cause a hiccup with the reading process. While it may seem unlikely, it can happen. Good luck finding copies! Based on some of the forum posts we get of people getting confused over expired codes, they're definitely still out there in the wild. If you visit a store and they try to sell you the physical Destiny - The Collection as "new" and at normal price, feel free to inform them that it is neither new, nor in fully working condition, as the codes will be expired; they're just selling the disc that contains Destiny 1 at this point. They might drop the price a bit, but that's entirely between you and them. Any Destiny 1 disc that works will work for you; it doesn't specifically have to be the one from The Collection edition.
