You're underestimating buiod diversity. Solar was initially on face value gutted. But with a build and some exotics it's strong. Dawnblade could use a buff. Arc 3.0 on face value seems bad. But it has a lot of potential. Chaos reach needs a buff. No argument from me there. But do some experimenting before you call foul.

Solar warlock is only good if you use fusion build. None of the other builds are good at anything other than clearing adds in strikes or gambit, which is unnecessary because it's not hard to clear adds in strikes and gambit. Shut up, stand in well, chuck grenades, and occasionally icarus dash. That's solar 3.0 warlock. Solar 3.0 is bad.

  • You're going to need to give me more than that to tell me it's bad. If it comes to being a damage super like Hammers or Blade Barrage yeah it's bad. But that's about it in my eyes.

  • There is nothing else other than what I just said. That's why it's bad. We're not hunters or titans, we can only do those two things.

  • So it's bad because of a lack of offensive variety?

  • I gotta disagree on builds. On a lack of offensive versatility maybe you have a point. But build diversity nah. Sunbracers / Boots of the Assembler.

  • FUN FACT! Solar grenades from sunbracers don’t stack damage on the same target, making sunbracers only really good for ad clear! Why? Because -blam!- warlocks, that’s why!

  • You literally specified sunbracers as one of the offensive options available to Solar warlocks, hence why I made my comment

  •
You literally specified sunbracers as one of the offensive options available to Solar warlocks, hence why I made my comment
I'll be pedantic. Offensive yes. To bosses no. That's the thing really I never expected Solar Warlock to be Offensive. I expected it to be more about buffing and healing.

  • I personally expected it to maintain at least some of the offensive capability that bottom tree dawn, not just aerial and healing. All dawnblade needs is a new aspect that causes an ignition any time you kill a scorched target and it has back the main thing it lost.

Three builds is not diverse. Five to six is diverse. Of those three however which are not only made for gms but are actually usable in them without constantly dying or putting your team at risk

  • Mere examples. The main factor is people underestimate warlock viability and builds. They see the Arc "changes" and don't see the potential. The same story with solar.

  • Thing is the only new thing warlocks got was the melee. Nearly everything else is just what we had before but with a new name. There are four exotics for Arc warlocks: Crown of tempests, Getaway artist, Stormdancer's Brace and Geomag Stabilizers. Depending on what Bungie has changed about Chaos reach it may be dead on arrival. ( Bungie had nerfed 3.0 abilities prior to the subclasses launch. There is not Guarantee that a super as strong as that hasn't been altered in any way, the same is said for the others) I can see a nerf for Stormdancer's brace given that it refunds super energy and increases super damage per kill. In 3.0 it will be fairly oppressive in the right hands. Getaway artist will possibly have some changes given that we have arc soul as a fragment now. Crown of tempests if what we've all read on the announcement page is true will probably end up causing a stir in PvP. I spend most of my time in endgame and not things like strikes or patrols unless i'm raising my light in the early stages of the season if it doesn't work in endgame well then I throw it in to the trash and stick with what does work I know many who play are the same. If Bungie haven't got something up their sleeve with the boring 30 second Patrol arena's/lost sectors (that some players are tired of running to get new exotics) then Arc may end up with little use outside of season 18, Hopefully though Bungie give all 3.0's a look over with a fine tooth comb and iron out any remaining issues and then work them out on their way through to Lightfall.

  • To be fair I can't see Titan and Hunter Arc 3.0 going without a nerf or two. Titan especially.

  • Hey now, Solar may be good on hunter and Titan but it’s still bad on warlocks. Bungie’s midseason tuning patch gave it some slight buffs but didn’t change anything that the community actually wanted.

when bungie gives normal cqc melees back (solar, void), when bungie gives sqeezing into blessing (without autoaim!!) and with overshield back, and when bungie gives grenade eating back (void). only then i will be happy withe the revamped warlock classes. i do not care about their potency. i just want the identity back. sometimes i want a cqc melee. all that is gone. hunters still have all their melees and still have their identity. titans too, except they cant decide midgame to either pop bubble or pop roaming super anymore which sucks and i think they also lost one cqc melee

  • I do believe I said somewhere that Dawnblade needs a buff of some kind and could there maybe more versatility with the base kit? Sure. But to say Solar Lock is a shambles is a bit much. Considering what it's capable of and what it's mostly used for I don't believe it was ever intended to be anything more than a healers paradise. Dawnblade was just tossing out a bone and saying here's your damage super. It would've been nice to have them dismantle dawnblade and give them something else instead that was stronger.

  • Wrath of the Phoenix - Cover yourself in solar energy projecting the image of a phoenix and hurl yourself at the target causing a massive solar explosion. Impact causes massive Damage and leaves behind solar after explosions. Exotic - Risen from Ashes. Boosts super damage. I know it's a cheap copy of Titan Missile. But can't exactly say it wouldn't be cool to see Warlock enveloped in the image of a solar Phoenix flying across to do damage.

Why should warlocks have to have perfect builds with perfect armor and mods to do half of what hunters and titans can do by default for free? Have you not seen the throwing hammer spam bs? The infinite dodge/melee/grenade bs hunters have? The infinite throwing knife bs they have so long as they land a headshot with an auto aim knife that bounces off surfaces? Meanwhile warlocks need to build specifically into 1 fukkng thing and still rely on sh!t rng from a half baked or nerfed exotic.

  • They can do all that. They, LIKE OTHER CLASSES, also have builds that make things so much better. Warlocks aren’t and haven’t feel behind. It just seems that the average warlock user on the forums just lacks the skill to make them work 🤷‍♂️

  • His point further down however had some weight. They are kinda bound to Well quite a bit in most endgame content. GMs being an exception.
