If you think Solar warlocks are weak, you are not a warlock main. It’s that simple.

Solar Warlock is literally plopping down Well for DPS the subclass. And yes, Double fusions are part of that.

That’s not all it is. But even if it was, that setup is the farthest thing from weak. It’s actually extremely potent.

Solar warlock only has one build that is viable in pve right now and it’s only strong because of the current seasonal mods. It’s borderline a PvP dominant subclass, with well being the only thing viable for pve for solar locks. Next season it will be trash unless they do some buffs and changes. True warlock mains understand this.

I disagree. There are good builds with sunbracers, verity brow, dawn chorus and phoenix protocol if you don’t want to run Starfire. I also disagree that it will be trash next season, it is literally the easiest class to consistently proc scorch with and ignitions. That’s just my opinion though.

Sunbracers require a melee kill to be effective and that’s not going to help you much in a gm when everything is tanky. Verity’s is a universally good exotic for all warlock nade builds but is best on stasis locks. Dawn chorus needs dawnblade to be effective and that super is the worst warlock super in PvE. Starfire and Phoenix protocol are the only two good pve builds for solar warlocks for high end activity. And starfire is only good right now because of the seasonal mods. Once classy is gone that build will lose its survivability and damage potential unless you work around the aspects but that will sacrifice its other great attitudes for survivability. Most solar builds on warlock are only good in low end pve activities where enemies die quick. GM’s and master raids? You aren’t getting anything done with solar lock unless you using Phoenix protocol or if you doing master raids, starfire is good for just boss dps, and you are better off using void lock or stasis for general add control or arc lock with its buffs and changes.

Starfire Protocol, unless nerfed in some way including an adjustment on Fusion nades, is still going to be a great option for high tier content even in future seasons. In most higher level content, I’d argue that Fulmination + Revitalizing is better than Classy on its own or Classy + Revitalizing. Combined with Ember of Char and Eruption, the ignitions and grenades can still dish out insane damage and add clear incredibly effectively at little cost. The build is assisted by Classy in lower level content where you can run Empyrean and never run out of restoration, but it absolutely isn’t dependent on it by any means. Well itself can carry the subclass alone tbh. Even with excluding Starfire and how it interacts with well, it’s unbelievably strong and enables so much damage and survivability for your team. This, combined with being a Tier 5 super, means you can have a super high uptime on your super even without Phoenix Protocol. There are other interesting exotics you can opt for as well like Boots of the Assembler, The Stag or Lunafactions that also provide utility to your team. Solar Warlock is and will continue to be a phenomenal pick in endgame content. In some cases, it has an argument for being better than Stasis or Void depending on the encounter and the style of your team.
