What cuz It's a game and I don't want to fill out a job application to join a clan? Or the ones that require one still sending me ads for their groups lol

Alright, I will break it down, understand as someone who runs a gaming community, this is where a lot of clan leaders come from with a vetting process. To make a point right quick, the clans using an application system to join them is just a form of vetting. Many clans have some form of vetting system, to get a feel for players out the gate. Whether it be application, some kind of discord process, or as one of my friends likes to put in my D2 Clan Founders group, they have a vibe check with the admins, etc. And I hate to say, but you have the community of players to blame for this. Too many players point the finger of "Oh they are inactive" or "they are just numbers recruiting", etc, when they themselves go inactive in a lively clan and only became a number because they chose not interact with the clan that they joined. So, I can agree to a point, yes, it is sad that clans have to resort to measures like this, but at the end of the day, you also have to ask yourself why many clans have some form of vetting system to begin with.

Gotcha i thought you were giving me crap for not wanting to do it lol. the ones that have a lead time and you gotta like the post and join the discord then fill out answer's to a quiz that's the stuff i was calling out and is ridiculous. Asking people to join a discord and not be inactive 2 or 3+ weeks that's perfectly fine and understandable. I've gotten a few of those and talked to their people some already.

I get it. Like my community, we have an application process, but we play more than just destiny ( destiny is our primary game but we do understand that people will take a break from Destiny due to burnout or whatever). So our system is meant to be universal, not just for one game. And our clans for Destiny are broken down by UTC time zones, each with its peak hours of activity. We use the application to sort people properly (It has been proven to be effective) and then our own in house bot will sort everyone properly. But when we originally made our application system to be a required thing, it was because we had dealt with months of people coming in, joining the in game clan, go inactive for weeks, to randomly pop out of the blue, ask for help and then dip 10 minutes after not get a response right away or come in right away demanding help with a quest line, who would then proceed to bash my community, whether here or on other forms of social media. That being the case, the owner and myself made an application to halt people at the door. While not 100% effective, it does work 80% of the time. You still get those that are willing to do the process to just slip on by (luckily our bot will detect discord and in game activity as well). But I have never heard of any clan asking for them to like their post before joining (not saying it doesn't happen, just saying that is a new one for me). I know clans will ask for help with recruitment efforts, liking their post on the forums when they post a new ad and what not, to help keep their ad at the top of the trending tab.
