-blam!- that, I want Bungie to go really creative and make exotic shaders that can only be equipped to your entire character, not individual armor pieces, and have unique effects like making you taken

The shader system cannot handle the Taken effect so they won't do it. this has been said on a live stream once. However I have my suspicions that the transmog system may be able to handle it.

Whether it can or not is something I fundamentally don't believe anymore. Bungie said they couldn't add more perks to guns - ta-da, they found a way with origin traits. Yes, I know this required them to remove orb generation from masterworks, but it was still possible. Hence why I'm suggesting - what if it had to be equipped to your entire set and wasn't on a per piece basis? It's just a fun thought, nothing more. I just think it would be sick as -blam!- to have a taken effect on your guardian, or an elemental effect matching your subclass, or a siva effect, or anything like that.

Okay fair but I still want exotic shaders/armor effects, like a siva particle effect, elemental armor effects (stasis, arc, etc.), taken armor effect and so on. Sooooo much untapped potential for Destiny’s customization IMO
