Warlock main...and no we didn't get screwed over.
The Warlock’s whole thing is that being amplified modifies their abilities; it powers them up,” said Dunn. “For Ball Lightning, if you're amplified, the Arc ball will fly out and zap enemies three times instead of just the normal one time, so you can get more damage out of it. For Chain Lightning it chains to more targets.” More specifically, while normal Chain Lightning creates a single set of chains that bounce between a set of number of targets, when amplified, the ability creates two sets of chains, and can potentially jump to twice the number of enemies. Three Aspects will be available for Warlocks: Arc Soul: The Warlock casts a rift to create an Arc Soul that will assist the player in battle. Allies who pass through the rift will also earn an Arc Soul. The rift charges faster when allies are near. While amplified, any Arc Soul you have or gain is supercharged, increasing its rate of fire. Lightning Surge: The Warlock activates their melee while sliding to transform into a ball of lightning and teleport forward, calling down a field of lightning bolts at the exit point that jolts targets. Electrostatic Mind: Arc ability kills and kills on Arc-debuffed enemies create Ionic Traces. When you collect any Ionic Trace, you become amplified.
Like they say in the jewelry business: Nice things come in small packages. 1. The only thing that Arc Warlocks ever needed was a POWER boost. "Amplified" gives this too us in spades. 2. Not only does it give us "Blind" and "Jolt"...it also increases the power of our abilities. 3. We get access to the grenades that Titans and Hunters have, which are arguably better than those for Warlocks. 4. Arc Soul gets a rate of fire increase when Amplified. 5. Lightning surge sounds like its an "area-of-effect Shoulder Charge" for Warlocks, which is a whole new line of abitlites. 6. (And the best for Last) Ionic Trace. Get arc-ability kills, you get amplified. Combine it with Crown of Tempests and it also increases the recharge rate of your abilities, giving you more changes to become/stay amplified. As well as increase the duration of your super. Which you can then synergize with elemental wells and Charged with Light to increase your weapon damage and performance in tandem with Amplified. or you can even bring out the Seraph weapons and warmind Cells (assuming they syngergize with the chaining effects of other abilities. The limits are only those of your imagination.

The thing ,after cooling down from my earlier frustration, that I would be very mad about if they scrapped it altogether is transendence. STROMTRANCE requires transcendence to be good, if it's not there that's just sad. I mean why throw away a fragment that's supposed to fill out all of one supers weaknesses and other supers. If they do decide to delete and not make it built in the super or something, make it a fragment and give it to everybody. Because chaos reach would benefit from that, arc staff, stormtrnace and fists of havoc, all 4 severally dead supers in pvp and mostly in pve, exception being mags chaos reach. It's just a waste if they don't use a fragment that can greatly help all classes supers. It's no argument that chaos reachs main problem is duration without geos, its duration is very bad without geos and has always needed a buff to it.

  • Disagree. While I accept that it’s important to your play style, there are other ways to get the most out of the subclass. In D1, Stormtrance was devastating. For D2 the clipped it’s wings, so it’s always been a shadow of its former glory. Essentially splitting its functions between the two supers. With Chaos Reach getting the power of D1 Stormtrance against high value targets and bosses. While D2 Stormtrance got left with its add-clear function. Bungie knows it’s underpowered because you have all these exotic armors whose reason-for-being is to make the super usable. TLDR: Bungie broke the foundational trade-off that Stormtrance was based on. Trading having a relatively weak neutral game in return for a very powerful super. Right now (unless you’re using Chaos Reach) you have a subclass that has both a weak neutral game AND a weak super.

  • Yes you are right, who knows it may not be bad, but if they leave it split it has no competition with the much better wandering super, by split I mean it not having transcendence.

  • I think Amplify will more than make up for that…and we’ll get a much stronger neutral game on top of it all.

Maybe, I hope so. Maybe being amplified increase electricity dmg for pvp to do decent dps or increase the range of the tickle.

  • PvP is going to be a sticking point. Crucible players hate warlock abilities, so if Bungie goes too far they're only going to have to nerf it once the howling starts.....

  • But I mean we go around with all kinds of annoying stuff but we aren't practically unkillable when we have our class ability. Take that with a grain of salt please.

  • I understand the hate a lot, i really hate getting sniped by ac130 warlock with heat rises and eye of sol from across the map. child of succ is annoying but just shoot and its gone not that annoying more like a mild inconvenience compared to hunter invis. stasis turret yeah still it can be shot and isn't to much of a inconvenience unless they have the more slow stacks fragment. arc souls can be annoying but no where near as annoying as the previous. icarus is hunter dodge so there complaining about themselves LMAO. rift can be annoying with stag but thats it. by far as a warlock and hunter warlocks are the easiest to kill in pvp, due to them having a bit more skill on avg then the other classes and there abilites not being just wall and dodge. warlock are easy to kill as no fast jump, no shoulder charge, just gun and pray XD. this is from my 200+ control matches and gambit matches.

  •
icarus is hunter dodge so there complaining about themselves LMAO.
They aren't interested in a balanced sandbox. They're "working the refs" to gain an advantage for their own play style.

  • Yeah... I try not to be like that, try as I'm only human, I'm glad titans got buffed last season and before even though I don't play titan! I'm glad hunters got good stuff last season and got massive buffs to invis in void, and very glad that arc strider is getting much needed love along with striker titan. I don't mean to be a -blam!- it's just I want balance, and storm caller as it is before arc changes is sad like arc strider and striker, I don't want it to still be sad when everything is said and done :(, I just have fun with zappy fingers 😔

  • This. I'm sure there are going to be builds with aspects/fragments and mods that will make the class really strong
