Unless getaway artist stacks with amped arc souls, or the amped melees are somehow secretly amazing I’m likely playing Titan. At least for the first few weeks. I’ve just finished getting them up to light and prepped as far as exotics and stuff go. Arc Warlock had such potential, but Bungie missed it. The new aspect was the nail in the coffin for me. Bungie took chain lightning (arc warlocks whole thing) and gave it to everyone without giving warlocks a way to excel at it. I was hoping for maybe a long ranged precision thunderbolt charged melee, or maybe a cast rift to emp nearby enemies or arc weapon final blows summon a lightning strike at that location (a weak one like Thunderlord’s…) Idk, just not this. Hopefully I’m just overreacting and it’ll be like void hunters or Solar titans where everyone thought they’d be weak but they turn out to be pretty strong. We’ll see though…

  • Emp rift? Called Vesper of Radius lol. Warlocks (just like Solar) are gonna be talked down and dismissed. Crown of tempest is about to be stupidly strong. Like dumb dumb strong. Electrostatic mind with lightning surge and heavy handed will almost guarantee a stammable heavy hitting melee every 2-3seconds. With x3 tempest and hands on. SPAM SPAM SPAM. Not to mention the ADDED ionic trace ability recharge. Easy cycles of lightning all day/non stop. Swap lighting out for arc souls and now you have safer/ passive damage and ability regen for GM’s or raids, and with the blind part, we know how strong “Blinding GL nades” are, verity’s brow and flash bangs can be thrown left right and centre for support. That’s just brain storming without having to see the other fragments. So quick to dismiss.

  • As I've been talking to people on the forum here, my take is that 1.) Yes, Arc 3.0 Warlock isn't very refreshing or exciting, because its getting objectively less new stuff than the other classes. That second part can't really be argued, cuz it just comes down to counting the new stuff we got. Warlocks had some modifications to existing abilities and it looks like it'll make them better, but in terms of new stuff to play with, there isn't much. 2.) With all of that said, this whole 'Arc Warlocks are Trash' thing is totally overblown. While I acknowledge that there isn't as much new stuff as I'd have liked, it still looks like there's potential for a strong and fun kit. It immediately struck me as more breathable than Solar 3.0 with how the Amplified buff is gonna work, and we haven't gotten every detail yet. Some people have brought up Bungie's description of the 3.0 Stormcallers 'having abilities that get stronger when you're amplified', and how there's a possibility that the super, glide, or rift could interact with that buff (just a theory at this point). We'll just have to wait and see...I've been a Warlock for most of D2, but will likely keep maining my Hunter for now because the new toys look fun. Locks are still gonna be good though, and it looks like they'd be slated for an arc-themed exotic this season which could be nice.

  • They could buff vesper. I was thinking of a large aoe that applies a debuff. Idk, just something more practical than the new aspect. Solar warlock has 1 (maybe two with snap spam) viable builds compared to how incredibly tanky and potent Sunbreaker is and the sheer damage of gunslinger (although gunslinger will probably see less use once classy restoration goes away. I’m not saying warlock is going to 100% be bad. I’d love for my most played class to be strong out of nowhere. And Stormcaller was my favorite across the board in D1. I’m just saying that with what’s revealed, it’s significantly weaker than the other classes on paper.

  • That’s fair. Solar lock has a lot more use then people give it credit for. Plunderthabooty can attest to this.

  • It’s got Starfire, Snap melee spam, and Rain of Fire. Plunderthabooty Is great (I still use his Revenant Duskfield build all the time on hunter), but all of these largely revolve around doing things the other subclasses can do better, but providing Wells. Without Well, Solar 3.0 warlock would be at the bottom of the barrel as far as subclass strength goes. The other two Solar subclasses can do everything else better. I’ll have to look at some of his Solar warlock builds again and see if I’m missing something.

  • All classes can be grouped into the “you can do it but I can do it better” category. Only exception is stasis.

  • True, but Solar warlock doesn’t do anything best. Add clear: hunters with infinite exploding knives and titans making sunspots everywhere. Healing?: Titan sunspots are rifts on ability kill that damage enemies that get close. A Titan with Phoenix Cradle is better medic than a warlock fully specked into healing. Radiant: covered yet again by infinite hunter knives. Ignition: Hunters have an exotic that makes them extremely easy to get and titans have a melee that will instantly trigger it. Warlocks need to burn 2 abilities. It’s literally just Aerial Combat (which is a joke now due to AE and how much you need to give up to do it and does basically nothing in PvE anyway) and Well. Well of Radiance literally carries the entire subclass.
