Sure, after weapons like Malfeasance, Wish Ender, TLW, Thorn, Wavesplitter, and others get their long overdue catalysts.

In time every season they give us one catalyst for an old exotic

Edited by ParrotTom: 8/17/2022 6:33:54 PMOld exotics that almost no one uses or wants to use, or exotics that don't need/ deserve one, or basically did nothing. Leviathan, LoW, Lumina, Deathbringer, Traveler, Arbalest, Jotunn, Monarque, Heir Apparent. Like, every catalyst since season 8 has been for weapons that fall into one of those categories.
-
I agree some of them don't need catalysts like Leviathan's, Deathbringer, and Jotunn, because no one used them, they had no practical use, and no one uses them still. But some launched with events and aren't really an inconvenience. It would be great if Bungo releases at least 2-3 a season like they used to, because they clearly don't have to do much to be catalysts, and some are pretty obvious but for some reason haven't been added. I guess most old catalysts that should have been updated with 3.0 subclasses still haven't been, so it could be either lack of foresight, or milking content (1 mid catalyst a season) as much as possible for as long as possible
-
Thing is a lot of those catalysts have been known for YEARS. We've known about Malfeasance since season 3, before the weapon was released. Many have changed, like Cerberus getting I think stability and handling, but got an alt fire instead, or Black Talon going from ammo to the near useless Reversal. Queenbreaker was supposed to get increased target acquisition, but light.gg shows a massive range boost instead. But there were perfect times for many that they passed over. Thorn with the armor based on it, Malfeasance with any of the Gambit overhauls, Wavesplitter literally any time before the orb rework everyone hated, Last Word when that story wrapped up, Tarrabah this season, Queenbreaker or Anarchy in S14, Wish Ender or 1K in S15, the list goes on. But rather than release catalysts for weapons people want to use, or weapons that need/ deserve them more, we keep getting them for weapons that fall into neither category.

I agree, but as you said a lot of those data-mined catalysts end up with pretty significant alternate functions. Sometimes this could be for the better, like if a weapon were to recieve a catalyst perk compatible with 3.0 subclasses, sometimes they are as pointless as Genesis on Arbalest, which should have already be intrinsic

Thorn first... It needs that love and perhaps range but lol Bungie is scared of a thorn range buff.
-
With reason
-
I'd take a stability buff.. range would be great but it wouldn't be noticeable at all.
-
From a 49 range stat to about 80 is not noticeable? My friend, that's a huge range buff. It can also receive something that maybe grants soul devourer an extension.
-
Has that actually been datamined? The last video I watch regarding unreleased catalysts said 20 range and 30 stability.
-
At this point it's anyone's guess... The stability stat is constant according to the different videos but the range stat varies.
-
I question that. I mean, Malfeasance is supposed to get 18 range and a perk that's useless unless it kills an enemy with the explosions. What could possibly be so broken about that when we've known about the catalyst since before Mal. was even available? How hard can that be to balance?

It's Bungie... Things are very complicated for them...
