Will we then find the Winnower/Gardener(if they are the same) and use it to defeat the witness?
The Winnower in my mind is the sole source of Darkness, so could he drain the witness of its power?
-
If the Winnower was Truly displeased, then he would have intervened long ago. But I think that's the Rule though, is neither the Winnower nor the Gardener can intervene.
which could lead into the possible Spoiler of the Witness making a Portal to their Dimension by using both the Door(Main Pyramid Ship) and the Key(Heart of the Traveler)
Look at it this way. The personification of the Winnower is the veiled woman statues we see all over Pyramid architecture. The Witness is the being we saw at the end of the WQ campaign. They are not the same. Not in the slightest. And the Winnower will never intervene in the affairs of the Universe unless someone is actively trying to use its power to do the opposite of what it wants. Which isn’t what the Witness is doing, so it won’t intervene. Will we ever see the Winnower and the Gardener? (Which also are not the same being) Yes, I believe we will. During The Final Shape. We must. If The Final Shape is the end of the Light/Dark saga, then we must see the literal sources of Light and Darkness

The Winnower is trying to help us actually
-
I'm almost certain this will happen. The Winnower talks to us in the Book of Unveiling and it doesn't refer to itself as we. In P53 it mentions anyone using its power to circumvent the very reason it exists will receive a punishment that grows in proportion to the cheaters success. The Witness want the flower game antics to end. It doesn't want only the strongest beings alive. It wants an end to existence and the Winnower knows its going to have to give us something to save the Traveler and prevent the Witness from accomplishing its goal. I can see Light and Dark saga ending with the Winnower and Gardener deciding to leave their logic in the universe and let beings decide their own des--uh, fate with it. Basically existing as watchers and when the universe runs its course, begin a new flower game with new rules.
-
It is unlikely that the Winnower would ever help, at least directly, similar to how the Gardener doesn't help us directly. As for draining the Witness of its power? It may be possible, but it'd have to be us taking it by force, rather than the Winnower itself. If we ever do fight the Witness then that'd be an interesting mechanic to fight him with.
-
I hope the Winnower isn’t the Witness. I always saw it as the personification of Darkness and the Witness doesn’t strike me with that notion. I think the Witness is a survivor of the previous Flower game and wants to end the cycle and is just using Darkness to do so. The Winnower and the Gardener seem more like passive participants than actually entering the Game themselves.
-
Don’t think we can use a god like a tool but on principle? Might be able to to drain the Witness, hard to say. Unlike the Light, Darkness seems free for the taking. Whereas Light requires a direct channel to the source. That said, I don’t think the Winnower will help us. If we can’t beat the Witness, we don’t deserve to live according to its philosophy. So it has every reason to not help us. Likewise, the Gardner isn’t going to intervene.

Does Bungie even know though, I mean the idea of an entity controlling the Taken instead of savathun only came about in Season of The lost , untill that point there was only 2 sides , The Gardner and Winnower And if the witness serves the winnower , uplifting the krill who would have just been devoured by stronger species on fundament, seems to lean more to the ideology of the Gardner instead of the Winnower , who was actually there to do just that I think Bungie is just making this stuff up has they go along, or things are lost and shuffled between the ever changing narrative teams Just like the dark is not all bad, but the collapse is, and who is behind the collapse, the dark, so how can you say they are not all bad, Because Bungie is helplessly grasping at straws trying to add depth to there story where there doesn't need to be, moral ambiguity when there is no room for it , the Light is not perfect , but it's goals are better than that of the dark, who desires our death, all while we commune with it , like a rabbit trying to befriend a wolf -
Edited by LikwiD_SmOkE22: 8/13/2022 8:04:14 PMThe witness is his own entity & speaks in plural forms at all times. He is one of several "children of the darkness". The winnower speaks in singular fashion.
