You realize guys in Asia have much better infrastructure and better connection to the US backbone than many people in the US have? It’s norm to have your personal pipe, not shared with anyone else, never throttled and keeping the nominal speeds 100% of the time, if you are a gamer. Check out Sony’s Nuro for a good example. It’s insane how fast the connection is, even with the US. The real reason has been stated by Bungie. People team up over LFG from all over the world, but in case of a team they take only one guy into consideration when matching up… so you get matched with a team where one guy has a good connection to you and the rest may be horrible. The only solution is to play freelance always.

  • I have great infrastructure in my country and can get sub 125 up/down pings to other countries on other continents from West Coast Canada. But when I ping test to Comcast spots in the US. Oh boy. Seattle was 12ms down, 93 up to Comcast with spikes on the uploads bouncing upwards to 500+ ms. Was like that to *any* Comcast hub I tried I. The US. Hell, Lisbon in Portugal was only 102 down/up for me on tests. So yea, I agree with what you were saying on some of the infrastructure in the US. At least now I know why some people are randomly laggy to me out of the USA. I’ll just assume they are on Comcast….

  • Comcast doesn’t offer the same upload and download speeds. You can get a gig speed plan but it’s gig speed for downloads only. Upload speed on their fastest home internet plans is capped at 50 mbps. So if you have a family with multiple devices communicating you’re in for trouble. I’ve been accused of lagging repeatedly and I’m pretty sure it’s just Comcast at this point. Unfortunately they’re the best option where I live. Hopefully there will be better fiber or wireless options soon.

  • Yea, sometimes there are no other options and you have to go with what you got. At least I know why I get the connections I do at times to people in the US now, and I know it’s not their fault. For me it makes it tolerable since I know it’s not an on purpose thing. Not knowing makes it frustrating
