You realise this is going to get worse under SBMM right?
What you’re experiencing right now is matchmaking with optimised connections.
That will only get worse as we take steps away from CBMM.
It will great games that are decided by who has the better connection.

I would tell you to remind Bungie of that and how they're decisions to use peer to peer connections have effected the game negatively... But you might get sued... So don't say anything. Please 🥺
-
Using peer to peer isn’t a decision. It’s how games work, unless they have the millions of dollars to rent/ build servers all over the globe. But it’s only a handful of cooperations that can afford to do that, and it doesn’t fix everything. Trying to bridge the gap between two players across the globe simply isn’t easy.
-
😂😂😂🤦🏿♂️ ouch
-
Only a handful LOLLLLLL What a ridiculous thing to say wow
-
Name some. The ones that aren’t using partial dedicated partial p2p please.
-
To name a few Arma, Ark, conan exiles, minecraft, call of duty, battlefield, counterstrike, valheim, rocket league, halo, splitgate, team fortress 2, insurgency, rust, escape from tarkov. Youre out of your mind if you think Bungie cant afford servers. They could use sony servers now if they wanted.
-
Yeah it's no excuse they absolutely have the materials they're just lazy plus they're owned by Sony now so they have even more resources.
-
I see. Well it would be nice if they had dedicated servers but I guess it's too expensive for them Idk. I don't work there or anything.
I see. Well it would be nice if they had dedicated servers but I guess it's too expensive for them Idk. I don't work there or anything.
The only advantage that would give us is better cheat prevention. People act like dedicated matchmaking servers would decrease "lag" seen in PVP matches. That's....not how things work and it's cringey to see it repeated so much. If someone has a trash Internet connection it will still be trash. Whether or not they are connecting to a middle-man server instead of another client.
-
Ah well that's too bad.

Is not thinking that dedis will fix everything in PvP structurally identical to the fantasy that SBMM will do the same? A lot of these criticisms of criticisms are attacking illusions that don’t actually belong to anyone. But please help sort this out, mr president of the internet. If I have gigabit internet, and my host has— let’s be generous, 60d/10u— would the both of us not be in a more fair situation, were the two of us instead connected to a dedi? I don’t think people have to be engineers to work that one out. I’d love for the new SBMM changes to stick the landing. But I am not going to hold my breath. All of this is just so long in the tooth.
-
How is it a fantasy? If you stick a lobby full of average to mediocre PVP players and they have to fight a superman capable of a 5 KPD.....they are going to have a bad time. That's not theoretical at all lol.
-
For several reasons. === *None of the people actually giving good feedback think dedis or SBMM will fix everything in PvP. Again, a delusion that doesn’t actually belong to most of us. It’s a fantasy to use this to analyze and explain what’s happening. *A lot of people actually do enjoy playing people more than marginally better than them because they learn faster that way. I do, and I think a lot of people are like me. *Going by what they say… Most pubstompers care more about connection quality and having good matches than owning people who don’t like/don’t play much PvP. Either way, this is irrelevant. Owning someone with a negative kd isn’t actually that fun. Trials is only a standout because people can make money doing it. *Changing algorithm priorities, ultimately, isn’t going to change the core of the game all that much. It’s not going to “fix” it. ==== The fantasy is in what you imagine the other is getting out of it— which you don’t, and can’t, really know (I.e, what pubstompers enjoy.) And it’s also in the orientation towards being dis/satisfied with an incompleteness in the game that’s inescapable and will always be there.

Core gameplay isn't the main problem with Destiny PVP though. Please don't take my word for it. The single most consistent complaint is the horrible matchmaking. Just go search for yourself, it's all over the internet.
-
This is saying nothing. 👍
-
It's connection quality and lobby balancing.
-
Yep. I’ve been saying it
-
No, it is already SBMM in Survivial and Elimination. It says so in game when you hover over the game modes.
-
And the connection is unbearable (I wouldn't know I barely play 😆)
