Hello there, Expansions (Forsaken pack /Shadow-keep/Beyond Light/30th Anniversary pack/Witch Queen) do not transfer and must be purchased on each platform you wish to play them on.
Do my previous game purchases transfer across platforms? No. The things you have purchased from your PC or Console stores will remain on the platforms where you bought them. These includes games or balances of Silver. Cross Save enables you to access the Guardians and Collections on one Active Account from wherever you play. The things that you acquire for your characters in the game are what move with you from one platform to another.
• Eh whoever gets whatever % of the money I spent on the witch queen expansion I don't really care - Not into buying games more than once. Pretty sure companies have say when negotiating the licensing deals so I blame Bungie who sold their game to multiple distribution platforms on PC and then didn't put any provision in place to share licenses via your Bungie account. They could set it up that way if they wanted to - big mean Microsoft told them they couldn't? OK then don't distribute on that platform. Games are a massive waste of time anyways. Stale company trying to wring every last dollar out of a really old game, not my cup of tea - you boys have fun.

  • Again, this is not a Bungie issue, it is a platform issue. You mentioned getting a refund. If you meant to go through the proper channels, then power to you. I would not, however, recommend doing a chargeback. Doing so can get you banned from your platform, as it is seen as fraudulent activity.

  • This is not a Bungie exclusive system. This is how multiplatform games work. Best of luck to you in your future endeavors

  • Yeah I get that between PC and console. That's how stuff has always worked. This was purchased on the PC platform - and destiny kept switching from battle.net to steam to xbox game pass - so the idea you should buy the same games repeatedly on PC because they changed distribution platforms seems like a pretty gross business model. I'll just refund witch queen and realize the people I thought were just annoying gamer trolls crapping on D2 cash grabs were actually correct. Lame.

Destiny 2 has only changed distribution platforms once: Battle.net to Steam. The game is still available through Steam (it is how I play and where all of DLC licenses reside). Steam and Xbox GamePass for PC are separate stores. Your purchases from one are reflected in the other. This has nothing to do with Bungie and everything to do with stores and content licensing. If you have an issue with this practice you will need to talk to the stores and not Bungie.

  • D2 isn't the one controlling this Valve (Steam), Microsoft (PC/Xbox though Microsoft treats them as completely separate), Sony (Playstation), and Google (Stadia) control all this and they want a share. I've said this before and I'll say this again you'll have to convince all of them to give up their share of the profit if you want dlc to cross save and it's impossible to do so

This is how platforms work. PC is not a platform unto itself, there are multiple services that are available on PC. Valve sells licenses to play games on the Steam platform. Microsoft chooses to treat their PC platform as a separate license from their console platform and sells licenses for each. The way the system works is that the platform takes a healthy cut of the sale price to allow the game in their eco system. Another example of this would be buying Borderlands 3 on the Epic store does not unlock it for play on the Steam store. So Microsoft wants their fee for those expansions that you bought on Steam, Valve is going to pay Microsoft to let you play there. This is why you need to purchase a license for where you want to play.

This is not specific to Destiny, this is how all games work. It is a platform issue. You should point your ire at MS for not recognizing your Steam license. This is not a case like with b.net to Steam. The game is playable on both Steam and the MS Xbox app for PC. These are two different platforms. Edit - I should also point out that the MS Xbox app for PC and the Xbox console app are also two separate platforms and you'd need to buy for both PC and console, even if purchased through Xbox.
