The “Contest” tag only requires you to beat Rhulk while contest mode is active. It does not mean they completed every encounter and looted the chest that is required to obtain the Contest Mode emblem. Bungie already investigated this “issue” and determined the people who thought they were eligible for the contest mode emblem didn’t fulfill all the requirements for the emblem.
