Glaive Shield can block pretty much all attacks besides a tank round to the face. For example the boss in Proving Ground. You can block the seeking fireballs with a Glaive shield. The issue with Glaives is Bungie releasing stuff half baked and most things don't work on Glaive effectively like grave Robber, Adrenaline Junkie, etc. The only perks I've found to really make Glaives shine is Impulse Amplifier + Frenzy (because Frenzy can buff the melee damage compared to other damage perks and is always going to be guaranteed active due to the Glaive being a medium to close range weapon) or Impulse Amplifier and Unstoppable Force. Because the shot damage from Unstoppable force makes it a good combo to just block and do DPS at the same time. Glaives are highly effective, and have DPS comparable to heavy weapons. You just have to figure out the mechanics and the best way to utilize them because it takes effort to learn a glaive. Plus even better Glaives can block the physics of boss stomps, and regular knockbacks. Glaive is so versatile and good for DPS its not even funny. Exotic Glaives are trash though, worse stats, perks, and a decreased fire rate and mag to boot. Stick with a Legendary so you can combo it with a useful Exotic Primary or heavy. I've found Anarchy with it can be silly at times or a Striga for add clear. Still man if I can break Rhulks armor plates with 2 shots without any assistance from my team? Yeah Glaive is definitely a good choice, and im glad its not overkill cause I do like Versatility with Fusions and GLS for ad clear. If anything pellet shotguns need a PvE buff. Rapid Fires just have no point to exist, all they got going for them is built in drop mag lmao.
