Issues: Timing: this is the absolute worst time to start in fighting about whose top dog. What’s the Difference?: what would a change in leadership bring? Unless Efrideet has a solution to the current threat, how are the Iron Lords any better than the Vanguard? End result: a bunch of dead Guardians and probably civilians. That’s what an internal strife among Guardians results in. We saw that with the last batch of bad Guardians who were in the City. Stuff went down, people died. The main problem is you seem to think Iron Lords aren’t Guardians who work with the Vanguard. Lore wise, that’s not true. Our Guardian wasn’t the only one to become a Lord in RoI, many did. That was the point of Saladin reviving them back then. So this whole time, all he has been doing is taking regular Guardians and training them up to be Iron Lords. Back in the day they took control because it was lawless. Lightbearers killing each other in their sleep type crazy. Starting a coup to take power when everyone is facing extinction is definitely not in the best interest of the City or Humanity. Efrideet, if I’m not mistaken, is looking for the next Speaker candidate anyway.

  • I think it would make perfect timing if anything. With another Collapse potentially happening the fanatical Iron Lords would view the fractured strength of the Vanguard as too weak to fend off the Darkness and protect humanity specifically pointing out their reliability on the Cabal and the Eliksni. Lady Efrideet was the wrong person to mention to be fair, it should've been Lord Saladin. However, what I was saying is that a new generation of Iron Lords, made up of Guardians who chose to stand with Lord Saladin have now returned in strength to question the authority and strength of the Vanguard, a coup, yes, but not a all-out war or even violent revolution.

  • It’d make more sense to have them come in and support, not take over. Basis doesn’t add up. With the departure of Dead Orbit and other factions, the city no longer has the resources of a large fleet for evacuation. To turn away mutual allies and their resources? Doesn’t scream competence, just another rehash of xenophobia. Nor would the people appreciate it, as the last time that line was used the people saying it invited a disaster that almost killed everyone. No one would follow them and after saying that stuff, no one would take them if they tried apologizing. Now if you changed it up from Iron Lords to Dark Guardians pushing for a coup, your idea would have some legs.
