not every super needs to be a top tier DPS monster in PVE, sometimes a super is just designed with PVP in mind.
Dawnblade is still one of the best roaming supers in PVP
as an example look at the other classes.
Spectral blade super sucks in PVE
Striker titan super sucks in PVE
arc staff is meh in PVE
Dawnblade just happen to be that one Strong PVP super but lactluster PVE super
also well of radiance is a thing, which is prob on of the most broken supers in the game.
also hard time getting radiant?
- the melee fragment? and when using heat rising, getting the melee back should be no issue, also every heard of the "heavy handed" mod?
- rain of fire? just slap on vex or something.
aka same amount of ways to proc it at the hunter class.

Bottom tree Daybreak was a monster add clear super due to the energy returns on kills, and explosions on both direct and collateral kills (not direct kills only via fragment like we're stuck with now). Everything else it had was just a bonus. Daybreak was also respectable at boss damage if you sacrificed your exotic armor slot for Dawn Chorus. Both features were taken away or left severely weakened with Solar 3.0. So you'll forgive people who enjoyed bottom tree Daybreak for being mad that they're now stuck with top tree's Daybreak with at best a fraction of bottom tree's former functionality. It was a direct, hard nerf to the super for us. And that's even before taking into account Phoenix Dive's interaction with Daybreak. Used to be able to drop on a group of enemies for a decent AoE every few seconds. Which was great for giving teammates some breathing room if they were getting swarmed, but now you can only use it once and that's if it happens to be off its new long cooldown.

let’s get this clear spectral sucks in PvP, too!

Edited by joanespotatos: 6/27/2022 7:51:38 PMTrue, but it sucks harder on PVE
-
Okay I’ll give you that
-
You're right, not every super needs to be top tier BUT they need to be not useless....and dawn is 100% useless in PvE. It needs a buff, and all the other supers you have mentioned need to be tweaked too. It's unacceptable for a super to be that useless in PvP or PvE.
-
i don't believe dawnblade is a useless super in PVE, its just not designed with DPS in mind, but rather as an add-clear super. they literally made fragments to buff the super, for that specific purpose. - ember of combustion, which makes enemies killed by the super ignite - ember of char - solar ignitions spreads scorch - ember of eruption - solar ignitions have a larger area of effect - ember of ashes - adds more scorch stacks and with dawn chorus you just add more on top of that. as Bungie did state, they want people to build craft more, to achieve the wished results.
-
With all that, it's still less effective compared to the old bottom tree. And that's the issue. It's not that it's not a dps monster, it's the fact they got rid of a whole super/cluster of abilities, and didnt give us options to get back close to what was taken. They havent done that before with any subclass. To make it worse, they doubled down on the pvp air aspects of the subclass, which goes against the majority of pve content. The only pve option for any higher level content is well, which they nerfed lol.
-
They fully removed the super regen part. Everything else is either still in the game or reworked.
-
That's not true. They got rid of more than just that from bottom tree, including having a physical melee lol
-
They replaced it with a better melee? Lol what?
-
Lol no they didnt. The snap is not better than actually punching enemies and making them go boom.
-
what the heck are you even saying, the snap is def a 100x better than the old close up one. they just took the ability and turned it into a fragment.
-
In your opinion it is, to me, it's not. And while the frag is similar, it is not the same as the old punch.
-
It does more damage. Applies a ignition which is near 2-3 times melee damage, tracks and is a ranger melee.
-
It does not do more damage compared to the physical hit and boom. Yes, it's a range melee, so is the other 1 we have, giving us 2 of the same type. Having ignition is cool if something is scorched, if not, that's whatever. The physical always made things go boom. It better have tracking since it's a range type. I get it, you like the new snap, that's cool. I like it too, but I do miss the bottom tree melee.
-
The bottom tree old melee had to kill something to explode, and wasn’t strong. Same as bottom arc strider for damage, which isn’t good. Ignition is guaranteed if you hit all projectiles on targets. Again, nostalgia is blinding you dude.
-
Yes, it had to kill something, but in most cases it was used to kill, not just cause. And it was a guaranteed boom every time you killed with it fully charged. Bottom arc strider for damage? If you talking about the melee, no one uses it for damage, it's to confuse. If you talking about the super itself, lol at thinking it isnt good for damage. No, ignition is only guaranteed if the scorch is high enough. Again, latest is greatest is blinding you dude.
-
Edited by Graviton Lance: 6/28/2022 7:50:44 PMIGNITION is GUARANTEED if ALL projectiles hit something. They literally said it in the reveal, FFS I can hit 1 projectile on 1 enemy and 5 on another and both will ignite. Love being wrong don’t you?
-
Edited by whateverman7: 6/28/2022 8:37:01 PMThat's cool they said that in the vid, but that's not how it works in game. The snap doesn't cause ignition unless something is scorched. If something isn't scorched, the snap just applies scorch. I can ask you the same thing
-
You have no idea how the game works. Literally go use it and you will see THATS EXACTLY HOW IT WORKS. Smfh.
-
Use it a lot, and no it isnt. The things from the snap go boom, but unless enemies are already scorched and/or killed while i'm running the frag that causes things to ignite, the snap doesnt ignite things by itself. That's what i've been saying this whole time. The snap by itself, without frags/aspects, is not better than the old melee.
-
Snap scorches enemies by Itself pre calculation of all projectiles hitting. In itself it scorched. Before igniting. Just stop dude.
-
'All projectiles hitting'. Again, another everything must be right to help the snap do what the old melee did from a simple punch. I have no problem stopping, i still like the old melee better than the snap. Since that isnt changing, that seems to bother you. You can like the snap more, that's cool.
-
The old melee NEEDED a kill. And had zero effect on higher health targets. You keep saying they do the same thing, but they don’t.
-
Yes, it needed a kill to make things go boom, i said that. The snap needs high enough scorch and/or a kill to make things go boom. The old melee applied a burn if you didnt kill something. The snap applies scorch if something isnt scorched already and/or all projectiles dont hit. Sounds like they do very similar things, one was just a slap, another is a snap.
