cayde
we killed hive gods, fallen kells, vex minds, and taken armies… but we couldn’t save our hunter vanguard
it will haunt us until we can forgive ourselves

Edited by LikwiD_SmOkE22: 6/24/2022 1:46:57 PMCayde dying wasn't our fault & we weren't that close to him (compared to ikora zavala andal brask etc). Wouldn't make any sense for cayde to be the guardians nightmare.. What people should be asking is why the nightmares the guardian sees is of enemies defeated in the past. Reminds me of the deleted scene from the new batman movie where joker tells him that deep down he's (batman) terrified because he kind of agrees that the riddlers victims deserved what was coming to them.
-
Same scene was in Metal Gear Solid 3. When Snake dies and see everyone who fall from his hands. Nothing new, that's why new batman is like second hand gum.
-
Oh come on it was a pretty good movie
-
If we're talking D2 Cayde, he would be the most annoying nightmare to have. Constantly ranting about chickens and puppies.
-
Cayde haunts someone else already. Read the trespasser lore.

And that is BS, because he didn't die in ikoras Arms did he? Bungie just too lazy to work the player into the story -
We don’t have nearly as much of a connection to Cayde as he would have to the Vanguard.
-
He called me his favourite tho Plus it’s also about guilt not connection so much
-
You realise that he told this to every guardian?
-
No Headcannon says otherwise 😂
-
Tbh what he says does make sense. Forsaken is literally us going on a personal slaughter fest to avenge our fallen vanguard (which was not sactioned by the vanguard btw). All Ikora did was looked sad in one cutscene and said "We should have been there". I mean amazing storytelling, right?! And even if it made sense to have Cayde be ikoras nightmare it really doesnt matter since like many important things in this game we didnt actually get to see that, it was just written. Yay lore, a great excuse to have 70% of your story told trough bland walls of texts.

Maybe if you are a new light, or have forgotten D1, The Red War and Forsaken, it even said in the promotional material for Forsaken that he was our best friend , and before us it was Andal Brask , who was killed by Taniks But keep defending Bungies bad decisions, you are doing great at it -
Bro. There’s a reason that Cayde is Ikora’s nightmare. No amount of whiny mental gymnastics is going to change that lmao.

And the reason is Bungie is too lazy to work the player into the story, no amount of Bungie lip service will change that -
Edited by DeusMuerte: 6/24/2022 10:22:08 PMDestiny one of not many games where "main character" is not "main character". We are tool, a spectator who look on everything from side of the road. Real road runners is merchants, queen and time gated villains. And this is cool.
-
So you double down on the gymnastics.

What you call "Mental Gymnastics", other people call "Thinking" Bungie sold an entire DLC centered on our connection to Cayde, then 3 years later we barely knew the guy -
Hey, whatever helps you cope better.
-
Imagine going on the forums just to act like a -blam!- and embarrass yourself lol It’s called an opinion u man child XD
-
Hey, you tried your best.
-
Thats exactly why its haunting ikora. She wasnt there to save him.

It was our failure not hers, and if you played Forsaken it was presented that way, to take that away from us takes away any resemblance of character away from us also -
I have played forsaken but tbh caydes death didnt really matter to me. So why would it haunt my guardian. Our nightmares where the ones from shadowkeep(sort off). When the pyramid spawned them as a defense mechanism. The leviathan nightmares are far more personal and our guardian has no personality to struggle against a enemy in the same emotional way that it would to the npc's. Also pretty sure we got over caydes death with the upbringing of crow. I see forgiving crow as "us" overcoming the grief of cayde.

Rly, u felt nothing for cayde I’m surprised he was the best character Not every player forgives crow I guess I don’t even rly like him anymore he just mopes around all the time
