Me and my clan had an absolute blast in Rift last week. We loved the communication/team based game mode rather than just the ‘go to point A, go to point B’ control mode that we’ve been used to.
Sure, there were some bugs and changes that could be made but overall it was a great experience.
A lot of games we played were against solo players (not sure why they weren’t using freelance) but we also had some really close matches against other full teams where we had to knuckle down and really communicate with each-other to get the win!
A couple of changes we thought would be good was a mercy rule - perhaps 3-0 is a mercy? Possibly changing the respawn timer to 7-8 seconds as well would give players the chance to get back into the game.

Edited by Kabr-2: 6/8/2022 4:56:38 PMIt’s quite funny how salt miners in these forums get so upset when someone likes something they don’t, they’re so used to smelling their own excrement in their little echo chambers that they can’t handle it. It’s awesome you enjoyed the game mode with only a few gripes, I too enjoyed the little I played, I even liked the new map too because it had spots for every play style, not just hand cannons. But! be sure there are plenty of morons who will go against that because someone else enjoyed it, -blam!-’em 🤣. 🍻

It should be reverted to D1 Rift, this Rift sucked.

While I respect your right to have an opinion, your opinion is wrong

What I found weird was how many people would be in a clan but were playing solo, I don't get it. I am a solo guy, hopped in to try and hitch a ride with 3-5 stack teams, that never happened though, it just put me with randos the whole time, so many randos not in Freelance, so weird. I did get the title and do enjoy Rift, glad to see some positive feedback for Iron Banner.

Your opinion is incorrect.

Same here. Was an awesome ride!!! ❤️Rift

As a solo player, who did run Freelance, I like your take and agree with you. Definitely some bugs to work out. If you could learn to work with your team it was fun. I would suggest a 4-0 mercy rule. 3-0 seems like maybe you have a chance at coming back. Depending on how close it was. I feel like many matches got to 4-0 fairly quickly. Also the larger maps were IMO, better for the game and more fun. I wouldn’t mind seeing more map options. I also like the shorter respawn idea. At the very least maybe respawn at your “base /goal” area instead halfway across the map. That way if you need to defend it, you have more of a chance. Anyways good take on the game! Glad other enjoyed it besides just myself.

My feelings were mixed, but overall more positives than negatives.

It was refreshing, but very glitchy! The games you got stuck in continuous transmat loop was annoying. The games where the rift disappeared and it turned in Clash, it was ok. The games where everything worked, they were good.
-
Agree. I played in Freelance and an objective based game mode other than Control was a breath of fresh air. Some routs taken and given but a lot of good engagements over position and holding the line took place. The transmat respawn is actually a brilliant idea to prevent getting trapped in your own spawn by a good team. From my experience Rift was the most fun I've had in Banner since D2 released.

Edited by Veldrin: 6/8/2022 12:35:54 PMI have critic and I have praise Praise: - It was a fresh mode (at least for me, since I never played Destiny 1) - It was about the objective for once and not only about KDA (albeit being decent or better in general PVP helps of course, but nonetheless it was centered around teamplay and objective, which was a nice change. Critic: - bugs, lots of bugs - only three maps - freelance is not the solution for duos (or casual trios) and soloplayers vs 6-stacks - Only one mode for ironbanner without a rotation seems a bit like a missed opportunity for more variety. I always thought control iron banner is decent, but different modes would be nice, and I still have the same opinion with rift IB (which 1:1 seemed to replace control IB) But the critic points weight less than the positive points, In general I liked the fresh air, but I played freelance mostly, maybe that's why I had more fun. I can imagine how it must feel as a duo or casual trio against a LFG 6-stack of PVP gods (that all are from different clans, because only the best from the best)

It's like everyone's absolutely crapping all over Iron Banner the week it's out, but then when it passes people have fond memories. To speak for myself, I had a lot of fun. Bugs aside, the only reason why I can think that people hated it was because they were losers...

I enjoyed it as well. Make it first up to 3 and it’s even better
-
I ran in the solo list for all but a few matches and I agree. Fix the bugs Mercy at 3-0 or when there is no chance of a comeback based on score and time remaining. Respawn timer based on map size. Respawn by your trans rift when you have to defend it. If the other team is there, give the respawn overshield a buff and have it linger so you have a chance to live and defend the rift. Auto self-destruct the spark if it’s being held hostage.

I enjoyed Rift. I made it to #26 in the world for IB ELO at my highest point, now I'm #28. I achieved this 100% from playing Freelance IB only, no stacking. https://destinytracker.com/destiny-2/profile/psn/4611686018431874053/overview

I'm not going to kill you. But I don't have to save you.

If the response times were faster it wouldn't be bad. But Bungie took every measure to protect bad players from being farmed as possible. Making it boring for the people rolling the enemy and being rolled just meant being dead for 8+ seconds.

Says noone ever.....

I also hated having to compete with teammates to get points for the seal. Had teammates let me die with spark so they could pick it up. I picked up spark knowing I would immediately die just to get a point. Maybe make those team based and give points for revives which count toward the seal triumph

This post is just a ray of light on my day. 😁

Horrible match making in solo queue ruined it for me. It was very frustrating having so many games go 5-0 or 0-5.
-
Edited by Kirka soi ja viini virtaa: 6/8/2022 2:55:55 PMYes. It was fun. And the best point was there was RARELY lag and matchmaking was generally good solo queuing. Now I tried to do the 3 control matches for pinnacle and can't even finish a game, it's so horrible. I don't know what the hell is going on.. Ended up turning off the game.

As it was I though it was just awful.. id go as far as painful to play tbh. I do think it has potential but alot of issues need addressing.

Edited by Skrood: 6/8/2022 1:16:58 AMYou're correct, when you're in a stack it's manageable. However, in a duo or even a trio, playing a full stack sucks. You are almost guaranteed to get steamrolled. We had a game where my 3-stack were the only people to even get kills. All 3 of the randos had a 0.00 Eff, if you can believe it. I'm not joking. Here it is. https://www.bungie.net/en/PGCR/10910598593?character=2305843009271669714 The mode (aside from the massive amount of bugs) is okay, but it fundamentally doesn't work right with how busted the matchmaking system in D2 is. The got rid of SBMM because the streamers whined, which left the other 99% of the player base out to dry. *If they added in mode rotation (control, rift, skirmish, elim, etc.) to IB, I don't think people would have hated it so much. It's being force-fed a single mode that often isn't fun, the whole time. You may not like eating your veggies, but it's more bearable if you're able to have some steak on the side.

Rift was fine it really depends how bad your teammates where
