Yup, major privacy violation. They also will still match you with people you have blocked on your platform. That's right - even if you have someone blocked on your platform AND in the game, they still put you together. Yet another piece of proof how critically low the real population is, that they have to resort to ignoring your privacy settings multiple times just to fill a lobby. Edit: I am enjoying the one extreme scenario privacy violator supporters like to bring up - "tHeY'lL jUsT bLoCk EvErYoNe" ok and?? Is that gonna affect you? I mean realistically, not this fantasy scenario where every player blocks everyone else.

  • Hold on lemme just block every single good pvp player si I dont match with them, oh wait that is very stupid. There is nothing a player can do to tou when blocked so just take the L if you really want go to orbit and wait 30 seconds then you wont match again. Ive played this game and the only times ive replayed someone days later was about 5 times and rhey where super sweats.

  • If the game has millions of players like they claim, this is a completely unreasonable logical fallacy meant to deflect from the point. If someone wants to block a person for any reason and not interact with them, that's a privacy right everyone has.

  • The privacy settings in Destiny, or lack thereof, are annoying. But it’s really not that deep lmao. The game’s population is fine.

  • Is that also why we can't region-lock or choose between cbmm/sbmm?

An option between cbmm and sbmm results in sbmm for all. The lower average skilled players and below will choose sbmm while the rest choose cbmm, this experiment was already tested and it failed. But yeah a region lock should not only exist but be mandatory.

  • Yeah it would be pretty cool to go through the leaderboards and block every single player better than me so I never match with them…

You underestimate how salty bad players can be. I recall 1 person recently that asked for the block limit to be increased above 2000 (or 1000), said person was convinced that blocking players excluded the “blocked” players from matchmaking.

I mean this forum is always riddled with posts that want hand outs, especially during the weekend. It would take less time for a bad player to block every better player in a match than it would to go on their phones/website and type out a 'Freelance needs to be permenant' post. Sh*t man even good players would block better players if they knew it means not matching them again in Trials.

  • If Bungie's population is as great as they claim, letting a few people block everybody won't affect the game at all. They'll end up playing solo most of the time after they've gotten 300k+ on their block list, but guess what - if that's how they want to play then just let them.

  • It's actually not that great, only time Trials has risen in popularity was when Bungie introduced (forced) crossplay to be a thing, freelance and solo queues which influences a temporary hype at that current time. Prior to all this the Trials population was barely hitting 100k players. And lets be real, everyone would block anyone who they deem better than them, especially in Trials, sh*t i know i would if i could prevent myself from matching a good stacked team on a Flawless run then i would and so would others. Players always try and find ways to exploit a game mechanic/feature.

  • I think people pitching this scenario don't realize just how long it would take to block even just a thousand players, let alone 100k or 300k or 1m. They would literally lose months upon months of playing time if that's what they chose to do.

You ever heard of the Hakke emblem exploit players were doing not too long ago in Trials, it was literally an exploit constructed straight from a social construct. I despise this exploit but its still technically not cheating however it is abusing the system, which the block system would be if it were to completely ban better players from your future games. Most players will use the block feature if it means getting easy games in the future, its common sense. Point is, theres a lot of players who will go above and beyond to exploit a games feature some way or another, such as the Hakke emblem exploit.

Yup, win-trading. An exploit that hurt precisely nobody because it required two willing teams and also took forever. I don't see the difference between that and letting a player farm you in regular crucible for a bounty. The distant future, maybe by 2025, they'd get everyone blocked. It really is an unrealistic way to get easier matches.

  • Ahh so now we see where your values lie, you prefer the game to be exploited.

  • Oh please, get off your high horse. Destiny isn't the place to parade around your noble morals. If you've ever taken an unintended shortcut, like jumping up the side of the land tank in Arms Dealer, then you're just as exploitive, doing things as they were not intended.

  • Wtf are you talking about, theres an obvious exploit that can occur and all you can do is talk jibberish to any of my points ive highlighted. Sorry mate but you're looking more and more like a moron.
