If you abandon the quest it will just remain in the quest archive. The part you are at I believe is kill four guardians in a single invasion, or have a teammate do it 3 times.

yeah it is but will it completely reset the progress?

Try tagging this post with Gameplay and Rewards. Maybe someone else can look into it. The only thing I can think of is maybe if the steps were done on a different platform than when originally started. It was a Forsaken exotic.

I don’t think that it will. I have abandoned exotic catalysts still partially completed in there. The exotic weapons that I have in there are to complete a specific quest et cetera.
