What new engine? D1 and D2 are the same engine as Halo Reach from my understanding
I thought this game ran on the Marathon engine. 😉😉

none, they played with words like "integrate new codes" as if any update in the history of video games doesn't do that, there was no engine update and their argument at the time was "we are deleting half the game so it runs 3 fps faster in orbit" which it even failed to deliver Still, anyone capable of believing that maps in 3 particular destination added to the game seperately in 3 years are conveniently all too old to run in new codes while 6 years old moon maps are fine have a special place in my heart

That extra 3 fps is a game changer

The engine got some upgrades for Beyond Light to push updates out faster. D2 and D1 do run on a modified Tiger Engine that Halo Reach used.

No pre-D2 launch they claimed they made they’re own engine so they could launch updates and sandbox changes more quickly. It was so long ago I could be wrong about they’re phrasing but I believe they claimed that the new engine they didn’t have to boot a day ahead to begin development.

Edited by BarrettDylan: 2/16/2022 3:44:03 AMYep, that was the excuse for why D1 didn’t get more content more often and why we were moving to D2. They repeat the same nothing burger PR stuff all the time

They updated it but it’s still the same. That’s why they made the dcv. They can reuse D1 assets, they just need to make it compatible with the newer graphics portion of the engine.
