Hello. Thanks for contacting us. You may want to review our BROCCOLI article for more information about this issue. If that doesn't help, here are a few suggestions some players have found to resolve this issue:
1. Enable "Game Mode" in Windows 10 or, if you already have "Game Mode" enabled, try disabling it. 2. If you use EVGA Precision for overclocking, you may want to disable that since it doesn't play well with Destiny 2. MSI Afterburner might be a good alternative to use. 3. In your Settings, cap your framerate to keep GPU usage below 90% to see if this helps. 4. If you have an NVIDIA graphics cards, see if the card stabilizes using NVIDIA's temporary debug mode. 5. Some players have reported that a mild underclock for GPU clock of around -100MHz and GPU memory around -50MHzz may help with this issue.
Imagine paying someone just to see them trolling you. This is so, so, shameful. Everyone should see this answer so that no one will give you 1 single dollar more. This disrespect us as players, customers and people.

  • They gave you very valuable info.. that helped me on 2 different occasions.. if you are too lazy to read through and try these fixes then don't play and move on.

  • I’m sorry, who’s too lazy to read? We said in our post that we tried every driver and also every step provided by the copy-and-paste Bungie guy way before his reply, we even gave detailed information. Are you actually able to read? Do you actually think that “update your drivers” is a valuable tip in troubleshooting games in 2022?

  • It is a GPU related error, that occurs to only a few players, so it is most likely an issue with your set up somewhere. It is not a troll, they gave you the fixes that have worked in the past for the overwhelming majority of players. The op seems to have taken liberties with logic, as yes, in fact you can have hardware/driver issues with just one game. If that game or software is using the hardware in a specific way it is very possible. Telling players not to follow the troubleshooting steps is reckless and serves no purpose other than to delay other players ability to fix their issues. If you have a better way, post it, otherwise make a post of your own detailing what you have done, your setups, and your dxdiag reports and maybe Bungie or others can find your outlying reason.

The fact that I actually have to explain this is mindblowing. This error started happening to a few players on the 4th of january just after mainteinance. Those troubleshooting steps had been given many times and haven't been useful at all. What do you expect me to believe? That our setups broke all the same time and date, and only on Destiny 2? Absolutely not. You say it's possible that games or softwares use hardware in a different manner, but if that was the case: 1) Maybe most games will work, but we would have issues in at least 2 or 3, if our game schedule is not restricted to Destiny. 2) We would have had this issue on the first day we installed Destiny. I started playing D2 in September and played for 900 hours before this error appeared all of a sudden 2 weeks ago. This happening not only to me, but to many other players who posted it (here, on reddit and under Bungie's Twitts) clearly show something is wrong. This could be on Bungie or Nvidia, that's the reason why we tried multiple drivers and with DDU, to be sure Nvidia has nothing to do with it. We already did what you suggested in previous posts, dxdiag included. Of course they didn't help.

  • The fact that I have to explain the fact if this was a destiny issue, there would be thousands of posts daily about it, or do you think that you are the only one running your gpu on windows?

  • There are people crashing even on Xbox, which is supposed to be “the same” hardware. Aren’t there thousands of Xbox’s?

  • I have yet to see a single xbox or playstation user post a broccoli error. Broccoli errors are hardware based.
which is supposed to be “the same” hardware
Yes and no, there are at least 4 variations of xboxes alone, not including any smaller updates that may have taken place to each variation. I had more issues on my 1st gen xbox than my series x.

  • Hardware based errors can be totally due to software leaks. It's like every network error people complained about is due to their ISPs only, which is definitely not the case. If Bungie wants me to buy their new dlc, they need to make their game work for everyone. Otherwise, I'll just play other games like I've been doing the last couple of weeks.

  •
It's like every network error people complained about is due to their ISPs only, which is definitely not the case.
Usually it is. I speak from experience, it took me months of fighting with my ISP who said it was Bungie's fault only to find out it was a piece of their tech a couple blocks away from me.
If Bungie wants me to buy their new dlc, they need to make their game work for everyone.
They cant fix hard ware / driver issues. They are not tech support for your pc. If you dont want to do troubleshooting then that is fine and they probably wont care. I have seen others posts very similar to yours and they went through all the steps and ended with a complete reformat to ensure a fresh slate, it fixed the issue. If you dont want to go that far, understandable, but you should be realistic with yourself, a game dev can only do so much to fix pc issues, all they can do is make sure their game is working, if it bugs out on your specific set up, short of them sending out a tech or you shipping your rig to them, not a whole lot that can be done.

Now, let's say this is not strictly related to Bungie. For example, back in the day when Destiny was on Battle.net, there was an issue for players having some specific modems (just different, not old) that would kick them to the orbit if they didn't establish a PPPoE connection before starting the game. This is both on Bungie and ISP, because of course the modem was the problem, but every other game worked fine. Now, if you are a little bit into software developement, you know that your software is well made if it works in any scenario. Let's say now this game crashes because of drivers or because of Windows Update, I don't know. It's Bungie's job to investigate because it's about the reliability of their software, even if it's a hardware issue. They wouldn't be doing personal tech support, even though helping players should be the basics of technical support. When I had issues with Red Dead Redemption 2, I received a lot of support, because that's how it should be.

  •
Now, if you are a little bit into software developement, you know that your software is well made if it works in any scenario.
If you know software dev you would understand that this is ideal scenario but is not guaranteed by any stretch of the imagination. there are simply too many variables.
Let's say now this game crashes because of drivers or because of Windows update, I don't know. It's Bungie's job to investigate because it's about the reliability of their software.
Yes, and when this occurs it happens to all updated players, not a small percentage and as Bungie does investigate outbreaks, your situation does not seem to be an outbreak but an outlier
They wouldn't be doing personal tech support, even though helping players should be the basics of technical support.
They did provide the basics, unfortunately, it did not solve your issue as you seem to have a more in depth issue.
When I had issues with Red Dead Redemption 2, I received a lot of support, because that's how it should be.
Bungie can only provide so much support for non game issues. They cannot code a patch for a handful of players and apply it only to them, or worse send to everyone

  • There are too many variables, that's why you can't predict how your software is gonna perform over every possible machine in the world. That's why feedback is so important, so that you can feed forward all the information to provide the best possible experience. No, in many cases I've seen people having a lot of issues while I considered myself lucky. It's about specific combinations, that's why it's so hard to predict. And also, no, Copying and pasting what I can already find on google is not help at all, especially if I already said I've tried what they provided. This is non-existent Tech Support.

  • I don't want to do troubleshooting? I spent 2 f-ing weeks trying to figure out what could be. Here's what I've done: - Tried 3 different driver versions - Performed a totally clean driver install with DDU - Disabled iCUE and all related services - Disabled MSI Afterburner - Disabled Steam Overlay - Disabled Full Screen Optimization - Capping framerate at 120 - Prefer maximum performance in NVIDIA CP - Added Destiny 2 as exception for W. Defender - Added BattleEye folder as exception for W. Defender - Disabled GameBar - Disabled NVIDIA overlay - Installed every Windows Update possible - Tried debug mode in NVIDIA CP - Tried manual downclocking Seems like I'm so lazy. I did all this just to see every game work fine and Destiny still crashing, after so many hours with no issues. Also, you may want to take a look at all the people who had this problem just in January 2022, these are only Bungie.net related. There are many others on Reddit and think about how many people may have it but they just didn't report it. Honestly, I don't feel like they solved their issues. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/260372803?sort=0&page=0 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/260374368?sort=0&page=0 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/260367660?sort=0&page=0 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/260345417?sort=0&page=0 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/260334571?sort=0&page=0 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/260321164?sort=0&page=0 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/260311477?sort=0&page=0 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/260300414?sort=0&page=0 https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/260281244?sort=0&page=0

  • never said you were lazy, and all of your troubleshooting would have taken a matter of a couple hours at best. If all of that didnt fix it, reformat would be my next step, but that is just me. As for your list of players, that is nothing. There are tens of thousands of pc players at any given time logged in and playing, most likely several million overall. Others in your boat most likely amount to less than 1 percent of 1 percent of all pc players. While not making light of your issue, it is most likely your issue. There are millions of different pc configurations out there, all in various states of update and disrepair. A single line in a registry can throw off a program or several or not have any bearing. Bungie's guides are for how to fix issues that are the typical cause of the error caused during your game. Best of luck to you though, as it does not seem like any one here is going to be of further assistance.

  • People having this issue I know tried reformatting and it didn't help. Destiny isn't my whole life, I can't reformat my pc just because of 1 single unreliable software. They said they're investigating the increases in crashing, only time will tell if they fix it or not, I'll wait. The purpose of this post was just to tell a bunch of players who wanted to enjoy the game all of a sudden couldn't play anymore, and if someone is sure that he tried everything he could, it's better for the sake of his pc to just stop messing around with it, otherwise they could really run into troubles, especially if they're new pc gamers.

This doesn't change the fact that you didn't read the post and claimed I'm the one who's lazy to read.
