That should only happen if the installer finds a problem with your current installation. Also be aware that if you're on Playstation you will 100% still have the copy function which copies the entire game before performing the update. If you're on a PS4 and still using the mechanical internal drive prepare for a wait for the copying. If your D2 is installed on an SSD though it shouldn't take much time to perform the copy. I've never had a D2 Playstation update take longer than 20 minutes from start to finish.

  • I am amazed that we have the exact same problem on PS5. Feels like the super fast ssd makes no difference...

  • I have both a PS4 and a PS5. I upgraded the internal drive on the PS4 to an SSD 4 years ago. Updates on the PS4 take about 25 minutes, on the PS5 they go in 15 to 20 minutes. Most of the time waiting on both is the copy process. The download happens pretty quickly for me as does the actual install. I was hoping the PS5 would do away with requiring the copy before installing, but it looks like Sony is keeping that for now.

  • Yeah, you might probably be right: it has to be faster to copy on PS5. Still, 25min down to 15min is not what I call an improvement lol. Thanks for the input, mate!

  • It is a big improvement switching to SSD. Players on PS4's with the original disk can expect install times of an hour or more. But if you have an SSD PS4 my experience is you won't see any big improvement in game install times on a PS5.
