How many runs should it take?
Edit: should, guys. I appreciate the info, but I'm asking the OP what number of runs he thinks Bungie should adjust to for max rank.

I'd say 30 would be more than enough, but I'd honestly be fine with 100 if there was also some sort of Grandmaster difficulty that would complete it in 10 runs for people that are competent at the game's pve and don't want to waste hours of their life grinding this boring activity. That way, you can reward player skill while still letting lower-skill players achieve the same thing through grinding more.
Add a 2x / 3x XP week, have Xur offer a random weapon after 5 runs, make star horse bounties award rank XP
I like all of that.
-
It took me about 85 runs to get to Rank 16 and get the ForeRunner Catalyst.
-
The number of runs would be totally fine IF Bungie only hinted that Dares are not going away anytime soon. The way they went with it was "a limited time event, have fun" and knowing Bungie, nobody was sure if there will be enough time for a new toy. Bungie has perfected FOMO strategy.
-
The way they went with it was "a limited time event, have fun"
That literally never happened.

The way they went with it was "a limited time event, have fun"
That literally never happened.
I mean, anyone logically would've assumed this was a special timed event until WQ to celebrate their 30 years, can't fault people for it when bungie didn't outright say it day 1 that Dares etc wasn't a limited time event until WQ
-
Anyone logically should've assumed it wasn't going away since they told us exactly what was going away back in October.
-
It took me exactly 100 runs to reach the max rank, but this was also combined from a few Legend runs and several streak breaks.
-
Took me 67.
-
86 for me
-
I'd say 50 at a maximum, but probably more like 30.
-
30 seems a bit low. Most people would blow through that in one sitting.
-
And? How many crucible matches does it take to reset your Valor? Especially in a Banner week with bonus Valor gains? I've reset like 5 times this week. There's no reason that something like Dares should require anywhere near as much as it currently does.
-
Dares doesn't have an event like IB to get players to populate the playlist. It is the event, so Bungie needs to have some incentives to keep players in it.
-
Beating a dead (star)horse isn't incentive.
-
Isn't your post about you continuing to grind it even though you don't want to?
-
Yes, because that's what Bungie wants us to do and it's not the best idea. Forcing players to participate in an activity way more than necessary for no good reason. Keeping numbers up of players in the activity isn't a good reason.
Keeping numbers up of players in the activity isn't a good reason.
Welcome to the genre. Repetition is the motto.

80-100
