The orb change has me real concerned and I'm not gonna pretend to feel any thing else. Bungie flat said in the TWAB they are not going to give us the whole picture. We are only going to get a piece of the picture or 1 side of the picture at a time. So until all 3 or 4 pre Which Queen sandbox TWABs are released we don't know how the game is gonna play. And I'm getting tired of having to guess.

Because of the gun code budget you are giving up precious orbs for a slot specific reroll feature. Each weapon has specific perks that can drop on it. For example you will never see a sword with Headstone. So the reroll mechanic has to be tailored to each gun specifically. That is what is eating up the budget. Personally I'd rather have orbs and have to farm for a roll, than give them up for a grindy gimmick. (And yes it will be grindy as the reroll will cost.....Orbs and materials as mentioned in the TWAB)

That's where we are at, the changes might be worth it and they might not be. I saw DMGs Tweets talking about orbs being a huge limiter to what weapons can do, now its all a mater of what they do with the extra resources. Nice shout to crafting being potentially costly/grindy, my bet is that will be the exact case. We shouldn't expect crafting to replace the "grind" in this case. Its obvious that Bungie wants those play hours.
