The mod itself isn't bad. The issue is them taking orb generation away from current and future masterworked weapons because that was the main point to masterworking them in the first place.

  • Using any armor mod slot is not going to be good news any way it gets spun! You have a max 10, and no matter how many slots are present, yes I’m talking about Adept, you still have only max 10! They will either spend a slot for free, now you have 1 less slot: or, price the mods so you are unable to generate orbs without losing something valuable. TLDR: Super Nerf, period…

  • I kind of agree but it would have to function a little differently. I thought that if it was like “depending on masterwork of a weapon with a matching element, they generate orbs on multikill” with no masterwork generating an orb on every double kill and a masterworked weapon generating 2 orbs on a triple kill

  • The mod is bad..its not even a general mod..its element based mod..so if im running a solar mod and only 1 solar weapon only that wepon can make orbs..what so il need to equip 2 mods if i want my energy and heavy to make orbs (assuming they are different elements)

  • Can't even due that. They said they're helmet mods so yea ... can't have 2 different elemental helmets on at one time.

  • The mod is bad because if they didn’t remove the ability for masterworks to make orbs it would be a useless mod. Most people use a masterworked gun most of the time since it boosts a single stat and creates orbs and its not hard to make a gun masterworked fully.

The major "bad" part about the mod, upon reflection, would be taking up a helmet slot more than anything As far as the weapon stats go, many of them are often underwhelming to the point where if it isn't range, charge time, or reload speed, it's usually just MW'd for the orb generation. Speaking of masterworks though, I wonder if the orb changes will result in changes to masterwork stats and possible their cost.

    The stat boost really doesn’t matter that much. Majority of people masterworked a weapon so they generate orbs with it. I’m personally not that mad at them for making it a mod. They should however make it a mod that works with all weapons. Instead of having multiple mods for kinetic, arc, solar, void, and stasis. Since they are making mods for each of the types of damage. I feel like they could’ve easily made a mod that just generates orbs for every weapon that you a have on when you have the mod equipped.

  • You didn’t content my point other then just saying what I said again (that people use masterworks for orbs you just didnt add the other benefit). If they gave a mod that would do it, it would be useless as you are better off masterworking a weapon for the stat boost and youd save yourself a mod slot the only way people would use the mod if no gun made orbs.

    When Witch Queen drops no weapon will be able to generate orbs without those mods on. They also already stated that they are changing how the masterwork system works for weapons. No one knows what this change will be though. Since they are already adding in these orb generation mods. It would be better if it was one mod that allows any weapon to generate orbs.

  • It shouldn’t be a mod period they are doing this to obviously nerf charged with light set-ups that rely on orb generation from masterworked weapons as that loadout is Meta right now. They wont compromise anywhere just like they did with Warmind cells, its a loop with bungie. There is no rest of the story what they will do is add other mods that will relate to more then likely generating more orbs with this helmet mod. Its overall a poor idea they had and assumed people would just accept a clear attempt at nerfing peoples setups

  • Yeah I agree it shouldn’t be a mod at all. There’s also things they aren’t telling us yet. In these next coming they’ll bring up why they are doing this. For now though since orb generation is turning into mods. Instead of them making multiple mods for this change it should be only one mod that works for every weapon. This way the helmet mods won’t feel as bloated when this change comes. I also feel like if they did it that way people wouldn’t be so irritated by the change.

  • They wont ever give the actual why they will just say other changes they are doing. If they had a really good reason people would agree with then it would have been said when the change was announced.
