Maybe because:
1. It fixes the issue of seperating orb generation from exotic catalysts like we asked.
2. It fixes the issue of too many orbs being generated at the top end of the game, and it causing game stability problems (guitar errors)
3. It encourages build diversity by nerfing Charged with Light builds at the top of the game, while making them easier to use at the bottom.
4. It frees up Masterworking to be attached to a new, and different mechanic that they are hinting about brining to Witch Queen, but haven't revealed yet?

If this wasn't a way to nerf super regeneration and CWL, they would have put the mod in a less contested spot, like your ghost. Also, they wouldn't be restricted by element. From what I can gather, if you equip weapons with different elements(you know because matchgame), only 1 of them will be able to produce orbs.
-
I’m sure nerfing production by the best player (and promoting build diversity) while boosting it for average and casual players who aren’t sitting on stockpiles of thousands of upgrade materials….. …was part of their plan. If they are going to give us power, they need to take it from somewhere else first. #PowerCreep.
-
Power creep would have been a perfectly valid excuse if most supers weren't utterly crap in endgame content
-
OMG Kelly you are on the wrong side of this one.

He’s not Not at all

What the f*** would you know you're a -blam!-

Great insult Needs work though

Copium
-
Wisdom, actually.

The amount of times ive read a post on these forums of someone saying "dont worry guys bungie is gonna make it awesome" and it was just someone huffing on the copium is too numerous to count. Dont get me wrong i hope youre right and they do make masterworking some incredible thing but im just gonna keep my expectations inline with what theyve developed in the past.

Edited by kellygreen45: 1/15/2022 9:51:23 PMBungie may screw this up royally. Especially where crafting is concerned. I’m just going to wait to see what happens before I spend emotional energy on it. My point is that I can see why they might have done this.

-
Exactly. Which is why people need to relax and wait until we have all the information...
-
Edited by Attack Wabbit: 1/16/2022 5:52:47 AMWe have enough info. We need a mod to make orbs with solar and another one for void and so on. Every time you swap a weapon you got to change a mod and if you want orbs for two different type of weapons you need two mods. No room for finders. It's a f****d system. Just make all weapons in a Guardians hands generate orbs on double kills
-
You may have enough for how you choose to roll. Which seems to be reactive. I don’t have nearly enough to come to any decisions. In fact I barely have enough to see the possibilities going forward. But then I prefer to respond rather than react.
-
Kelly some times you shock me and I find myself agreeing with you 100%. Not this time my friend there is nothing more that bungie could say to make this change ok. Let's say it's Christmas and they hold back and weapons now get a whole new perk column. That's great but it does not undo the damage. No matter what the point is that you will not be able to make orbs with your full load out any more. Kinetic two different element. This is the change so a few exotic weapons that I don't use can have the potential to make orbs if I slot the correct mod. Currently all my weapons make orbs and it happens without thinking about it.
-
Edited by kellygreen45: 1/17/2022 2:37:36 PMOh, I can imagine a lot of things. What if light energy weapons stop being just shield busters, and start to inflict status effects like stasis does (slow, freeze)? I’d make that trade in a heartbeat….
-
Yeah I honestly don’t think this change is that big of a deal.
-
Edited by kellygreen45: 1/15/2022 3:49:06 AMIts not. But this is how the community reacts whenever we're in a content lull. Streamers and content creators speak in hyperbolic terms in an effort to get clicks because they're struggling to find something to talk about.... ...and people pick up on the vibe and amplify it. The only things that are being affected if Bungie makes no other changes (highly unlikely) is that nerfs (slightly) the most optimized, and most popular builds, and creates the changes necessary for other builds to become relevant. What boggles my mind is watching this community constantly complain about they're being burned out and bored, yet they bitterly complain the second you change anything, and shake up the meta in ANY way.
-
You are out of touch. It's a straight up nerf to the game.
-
And your tunnel visioned 1. This isn’t being added to the game as it is now. Its being added to what the WILL BE on Feb. 22 when WQ drops. 2. None of us know what Bungie will do with weapons now that orb generation has been seperated from masterworking. 3. None of us know what Bungie is going to do with the Void 3.0 rework yet. They only offered teasers. But no full overview. 4. Even in the current game the Change is only a nerf to orb production for the hardcore player with the most optimal builds while it’s actually a buff to orb generation for everyone. It would have a compressive effect.
-
Bungies mistake was not releasing all the information at the same time in my opinion The change itself is stupid with the information we currently have but not a huge deal just makes masterworking currently seem pointless
-
1. If they had, you still would have had people complaining. This is about change....and resistance to change. Not about the nature of the change. 2. And if you think the rest of us thought of that, what makes you think that the sandbox team didn't think of it? Bungie did something very similar to this two years ago when they introduced Armor 2.0. They spent the summer before nerfing half the armory and all the dominant weapon perks. They did it to clawback power so that they could give us powerful armor mods without breaking the game. ...and this community did the same thing. Raged and complained that entire summer about how Bungie was ruining the game. Only to--when Armor 2.0 dropped---we couldn't dismantle our old armor fast enough to take advantage of it.

He’s clearly an employee.
