I guess we tangentially agree on the issues but I haven't really heard how you feel best to address them other than not wanting to see the issues brought up in any form of media which isn't addressing the issues at all, it is ignoring them and hoping they will solve themselves. Is that how you want to address climate change as well?
saying enough is enough isn't a solution, it's what angry people say before doing something rash.

Saying enough is enough is part of the solution. I'll stick with climate change because you're mentioning it above. When I say, "enough is enough" I'm referring to the current trend of constantly preaching and dividing and shaming as if that's actually going to solve anything. It doesn't. It's not even a debate. It's been over 40+ years and we are still presented with the same, or worse "science" that tells us we need to give money to the government to solve this problem. How much money has gone towards "research" for alternative fuel vehicles? Hydrogen fuel cells? Corn based fuel (come on)? I'll wait.... OK. Now, how many production vehicles are on the road right now as a result of that? How many models does GM/Toyota/Mitsubishi/BMW/Anyone make with HFCs? How many with corn fuel? So for alllllllllllll the money we spent there isn't one? Not one production HFC vehicle? Nothing? Nobody? Fast forward to 2006 when Elon Musk published his "Secret Telsa Motor Master Plan" (look it up) where he invested (GASP) HIS OWN MONEY into the private sector. Since that time he's produced the Roadster (2008), the Model S, the Model X, the Model 3 and the Model Y. Literally hundreds of thousands of production vehicles out there all over the world thanks to the FREE market. PS: He invested between $60 to $80 million dollars of his own money. The government spent literally billions upon billions of dollars with ZERO oversight, ZERO accountability and ZERO results. I paid more for my Model X than my parents did for the house I grew up in... and you can fact check that all day long. So yes, we 100% agree on the issues. We just don't agree with the solutions :D

The science (it doesn't need to be in quotes, especially if you accept that climate change is real) doesn't tell us to give money to the government. You are just projecting and grossly oversimplifying this. The science tells us we need to stop polluting our environments, recycle more (most plastics can't be recycled), reduce carbon emissions, and prepare for the inevitable because we are already past the point of no return. Tesla became a success because Musk was born lucky and had millions to invest in the technology and company, the fossil fuel industry has been lobbying the government for decades to stifle the electric car industry because they know it would hurt their bottom line if they became the majority on the road. the problem with climate change isn't that the government wants a bunch of money to then waste it, it is private corporations that are incentivized in maintaining the status quo because it is cheaper to keep using fossil fuels rather than innovate. the government also wasted 1 Trillion dollars on 1 jet that still doesn't work. by the way you talk about these things it makes me think you are a libertarian.

The car industry was worried about their bottom line? LOL. You realize that Elon Musk is worth over $200 BILLION right now? Right? Again, we disagree on the solution to these problems, if that makes me a Libertarian then OK. Label it any way you want. How many Al Gore cars are out there? I'll wait. The "science" needs big giant quotes when guys like Al Gore get in front of cameras and tell us that the world is ending in five years and then asks for money. The scientific process requires waaaaaaaaaaay more scrutiny than a report generated by someone for the people funding their "research". Again, if there was any oversight, any accountability or any results whatsoever then I'm on board. But spending billions and billions of dollar and billions of dollars on telling people to recycle more isn't the answer. PS: I'm the wrong guy to argue with about military spending. If it was me there would be 0 foreign aid and the military budget would be a fraction of what it is today. This isn't the Cold War. We don't need bases in every country, we don't need to outfit every ally and enemy of our enemy with weapons and we don't need to be the police for every corner of the planet. Again... enough is enough.

well we agree more on military spending. the science and research has been in on climate change for around 100 years now. it is real, it is negatively affecting us and it is largely man made. It would take a world wide effort to prepare for the consequences and yes that would involve the government, but I think we both agree the US government is highly corrupt and ineffective when it comes to this issue. Recycling is a big part in the solution and when I say that I mean we need new innovations in how and what we can recycle. That was also just one of many things we would need to do. and yeah I know Musk is too rich, and Al Gore didn't make cars because that's not his area of expertise. he was warning people of climate change and advocating for us to do something about it, not researching how to build and manufacture electric cars.
