Person, you said marginalized. You’re A, insinuating some kind of mistreatment, and B asking reparations for things which 99.9% of the Destiny 2 population has not committed against you. We’re here to play video games, but to be serious, have trans people been marginalized in the same manner as women, races, or -blam!- orientation? The answer is not concrete, because this is a political debate.
So then, what is the purpose of the emblem, of the splash page, or whatever Bungie does to support trans people, if not to bring attention to something? Attention incites change, and change requires political action. You “expressing” yourself is not inherently political, but for Bungie to flood my video game feed with images and virtue signaling, that definitely is. Now I don’t much care about this particular issue, but I don’t think companies should be promoting politically charged topics.
Imagine there is a store with no replacements. You love buying from them and it has been a part of your shopping life for 7-8 years. One day that store puts a sign on the front door that says: “We support cis white males. They are marginalized by all the inclusivity programs of today, and no one wants them because they are the privileged majority.” Certainly the store has a legal right to place the sign. You may not like it, but are you going to suddenly stop shopping there?
No. The store is a large irreplaceable part of your life.
Now you understand why many of us don’t appreciate what Bungie is doing.
Charitable causes, sure. I’ll by an emblem. But I don’t want political stuff on my feed, and topics relating to trans people are politically charged, period.
Edit: the store analogy is Destiny, also grammar
