Sounds like we’re back to Y1D2….and team shot meta.

  • Nowhere near, Y1 had slower time to kill no special weapons slower movement and was 4v4

  • All I see now is team shot camp meta with forerunner or the battle rifle. It gets old very quickly. One step forward and two steps backwards. Back to vanilla D2 it seems.

  • Team shotting has always been the most effective way.

  • Yeah….when you neuter everything but small-arms fire. Why do you think wars are no longer fought by massing large numbers of men in lines and shooting at each other like 200 years ago? Everyone wants to blame the rifle or the machine gun. But that just prompted armies to DIG IN and build trenches and breastworks to break line of sight. What prompted armies to spread out was explosive artillery. When it became possible for a half-dozen men to take out entire companies with a single shot? Spreading out became essential to survival. Abilities in Destiny are the artillery that forces team to spread out by penalizing them with a quick death if they don’t. By merging them, once again, hunkering down and massing fire becomes the most efficient way to win. Bungie keeps failing to learn from their mistakes…. …and history.

  • Predicted that once I saw some of the changes. It was super obvious once you put them all together. Why does this type of action not surprise me?

  • Team shooting never left and you can never really get rid of it. It was a thing in D1 as well.

  • The goal isn’t to get rid of it. The goal is to pin its ears back so that it isn’t the only effective way to play. That’s why it was so oppressive in vanilla D2. The guns were so underpowered compared to player movement speed… and the game has been stripped down to the point where there was no other way to play. That gets boring—and frustrating—fast. Because individual skill and playmaking gets ice water thrown on it.

  • I’m gonna have to politely disagree with you This is the most fun I’ve had in Crucible in awhile I never thought of abilities as an issue but now that we’re in it, I love it

  • You’re right to do so But people said the same thing about vanilla D2 Crucible…. …for about two weeks. That’s when weaker players figured out that team shooting and camping were the most efficient way to play.

  • Doesn’t matter what shooter you pick up, you’re always going to have the turtle players who know they don’t do well in fast paced, close quarters situations. People are always going to camp, destiny just has more variety with the sandbox of weapons/abilites(even with the current system) that give a underskilled player a edge or chance because of drastic power stat differences. It’s less of a race or effort to get better and more of find the best vantage point with the best weapons and go from there I’ve noticed since D2 introduced more options imo. In competitive gameplay you have a roll called anchor which is for your slower long range lock down a lane/ section players for the objective. Same goes for casuals difference is just skill level and lack of purpose for doing so. Most people here do it to stat pad or just stay alive You know?

  • In competitive games things aren't allowed and there are rules, but go on.

  • Pretty sure I specified the difference either way you’re going to have campers as I said before. Your point? Anchors have purpose in comp but pubs they don’t, rules have nothing to do with making people turtle. So your point?

  • You're comparing this game to anything remotely competitive is laughable at best. I was just entertaining the notion. Games a joke.

  • No foo I was literally using comp anchors as a analogy for them saying being are camping more than usual. What are you going on about, this game will never be competitive in the smallest sense of the word. Professional gamers camp in a position called anchor which serves a purpose. Casuals do it because they have slow response time or just play slow asf. That’s literally what I said 🤦🏽‍♀️

I hope it doesn’t go that way, I feel as if this will work if Bungie could do this right This game’s PvP isn’t perfect and it should never be perfect, PvP isn’t the main focus of the game after all At least we’re not sluggish and primaries kill a bit faster than they did in year one

  • I hope so too. But the right thing to do is something Bungie refuses to do: Reduce TTK to about 0.6 secs.

Ironically we are in the same damn predicament that started back with TTK in that primaries were nerfed to hell and became so underpowered that specials and abilities took over. Then abilities got nerfed, specials dominated, until they took ammo away, and even that wasn’t enough (Don’t forget this was also the rise of the seasonal “meta” weapons, that they still do today….) Point is the TTK change you are proposing is a similar thought I had back then to combat the special over usage, but Bungie just outright refused to do the one thing that would have fixed the problem in the first place…. Fast Forward to now, where they all but basically reverted the entire Go Fast update, and nerfed ability cooldowns hard, that we are back to the D2 Y1 circumstances once again….smh Hopefully this time they’ll learn enough to fix things before we get another mass exodus again…. But I agree with your proposed change. Would definitely counter the special usage, and they wouldn’t have to keep breaking specials over and over again. It gets old when we are stuck of repeat. Especially when we know what needs to be done to fix it.

  • They just keep stubbornly walking around the obvious solution. While they keep doing the same ineffective things over, and over again. It’s like watching someone determined to pound a square peg into a round hole…. And is doing everything possible except trying a ROUND peg instead….🤦🏾‍♂️

  • That could work I was thinking- would you think having the crate system for special weapons from D1Y3 would work? I was thinking this but at the same time, I think it would lead to more team shooting
